Oweh declares

This is always a weird dynamic where we're simultaneously saying we don't think he's that great but we really want him next year. It's understandable, but interesting.
I think we’re saying we need him, also but we don’t need him for 2 million dollars, a job for somebody else, and any additional promises.

kentucky would be screwed if he decides to stay in the draft
lol so would he. Big bro would be taking care of his dumba.##. Hes got no worries. That family is set and he’ll play in the league and make a couple million. Just not for long and not this year. He’ll return. If he improves his shooting at a little higher volume. If he takes over 100 3’s and shoots 36% he’ll get picked late 2nd. Make a few million then be out of the league in a couple years.

Right now he is a second round pick. He will try to see if can get on a good team as late first rounder .

If he doesn’t work out, he will be definitively welcomed back at Kentucky and he knows it.

OWehhhhh. Oweeeeh!
What draft board are you seeing him on as a second rounder?

Everywhere I've looked they say 2nd round so probably 50/50 on returning.
I hope he does well whatever his decision is.

I believe the Cal mindset is gone and washed from the program. With that being said I think the only reason he declared is to get positive feedback on what he needs to improve upon this season to become a first round draft pick in 2026. He will be back to help us to title #9.

The most likely scenario is he’s at best a late second, whether he comes back or not. Being able to pay him ourselves helps, but I would get if he’s done with college and wants to move on.

Oweh doesn’t project anywhere close to a lottery pick or a first rounder. Don’t know why people are afraid of him leaving

He’s weighing his options and I completely understand. But if he’s going to weigh his options Pope should weigh his also on a potential replacement.
Agreed. I think he'd explode in our offense next season but Pope does need to replace his kinda productivity soon. We need to shore up a cg either way, already. I feel good about that...that Pope has a plan and that some good players are yet to enter the portal. But we need a solid player to fill his shoes if he leaves. Tough call but I think it benefits all if he comes back but I understand if he leaves too.

He doesn't project in the draft. Period. At all. Which only furthers your point. He should absolutely do what he is doing though. Getting feedback is never a bad thing. I can't imagine he'll hear anything he hasn't already heard, but it probably carries more weight coming from the NBA scouts/execs.

Acting like we were the only place guys decided to leave early when they had no chance of getting drafted is revisionist history.

It’s no secret what he needs to improve on. Shooting and ball handling. He doesn’t need to declare to do that. And there’s no way he’ll be a 1st round pick, no matter when he declares.

I believe he’s looking to get a 2nd round guaranteed contract. Somewhere in the top 45. If he’s able to get that it will be a bit more dicey if he comes back imo.

There's no guarantee he improves his stock next year. His shot is a little wonky and his handles are weak. He's athletic but doesn't jump out of the gym.
He is going into his junior year of college and these weaknesses havnt been fixed.
Going 2nd round and working 24 7 with a trainer may be his best bet.
I think coming back with a strong roster around him also could help him.
Interesting decision for him

You just perfectly made the case why he will be back. If he doesn’t project as an NBA player he can make way more money in college. He’ll be back

He’s in the idea spot to return. A top 5 roster where he can be the undisputed leader. He’ll get much more national acclaim next season and some All-American selections.
He may not be a draft selection this summer but there is a clear path to first rounder next year.

My only worry is.... he gets bank from another school. But I'm staying positive. Cause oweh is very kentucky. Reminds me of Eddie Sutton type players.

I would think he will return. That said the guy has dreamed of being an NBA player all his life. If somebody promises him a 2 round pick and a guaranteed contract who knows.
I don't follow it, but I've heard he's not on any mock drafts (either round). Also, from what I understand unless he can get late first round money, it doesn't make sense to leave. Now, maybe he could get a big contract overseas, but I've heard no rumblings that is in the cards.

My hunch is that Oweh will follow his dreams and take his chances on a second round pick and this is why and how we got Aberdeen. Just a hunch. Of course it would be good to have him, but the roster without him is a serious contender.

Staying in this year, he would be competing against a chunk of 5th years shooting for their last chance at a ball career. The field may be a bit thinner next year.
