The “UNC” way was clearly being used in reference to the decades of cheating going on. Hairston was clearly involved in that cheating and was caught driving rental cars supplied by a booster, taking fake classes, etc.
The kind of stuff you are digging up happens at every school and some of it is from years after these guys left the program. Don’t act like the two are even remotely close.

The Carolina Way is referencing the UNC fan base arrogance. For years they held themselves out as a bastion of the correct ways to do things. "Carolina does not have issues because they do things the Carolina Way." This phrase is now being turned back on them. When you find out that Kentucky players systematically got free grades for doing no work and never going to class, so that your program played athletes who should have been ruled ineligible in virtually every game for 17 years; when there is a notorious half-wit like Rashad McCants on Kentucky's DEAN'S LIST even though he admits he never went to any classes that year; when an ex-felon set up a system in Lexington so UK basketball players got free cars to ride around in with guns and drugs; when a player gets busted for selling drugs at a house owned by Cal like Will Graves did at Roy's house; when the mom of a Kentucky player gets hired for a fake job to entice her son to stay in school for a year, then gets busted along with an official in the athletic office for using taxpayer money to go on extra-marital trysts like Tami Hansborough; when all that and more happens, you'll have a basis for comparing the two programs. Until then, admit that UNC-CHeats is the most immoral program in the past 30 years by a landslide, and don't embarrass yourself by comparing Kentucky during that span.
You know the most disgraceul thing of all? UNC-CHEATs spent millions of dollars and lobbied shamelessly to avoid accepting the responsibility for its actions. And the defense boiled down to this: Putting Rashad McCants on our dean's list when he did no work and attended no classes is WITHIN THE STANDARDS OF HONOR AND INTEGRITY THAT WE HAVE SET FOR OUR UNIVERSITY. Therefore, the NCAA can't punish us, because members can decide themselves what is honorable and acceptable for their school.
That's who you are: The university that spent $30 million to defend your right to establish an academic standard by which Rashad McCants could make your Dean's List without being required to attend a class or write a paper. Congratulations.
