St. John's should be credible again sooner rather than later. That's good for the area, and college hoops in general ... regardless of your feelings about Slick Rick.

He got his PG from Iona, Dingle, Taylor, Davis, Luis, and Alleyne for the backcourt. That's quite the haul for St Johns. He also brought Slazinski from Iona, who used to be at UL and kept Soriano. Another frontcourt player and they will be a tournament team.
Anyone who thought Rick wasn’t gonna be able to recruit very well to St. John’s were totally mistaken. He’ll recruit better there than he did at Louisville. Most likely without even leaving that tri state area.

One of my all time favorite coaches. Pitino‘s UK era was the best. Cal will always be in his shadow in my opinion. Excellent pickup for St John’s, even at his age, he has another run in him.
I think objectively he is the single best X & O’s coach in the country…..a vile human being personally but he knows basketball.

I'd love for Pitino to be the only coach to take four programs to the Final Four. I know Cal owned him in the Kentucky-Louisville rivalry, but if I'm starting off a program with either of these guys at the age of 35 and in their prime, I'm taking Pitino six days a week and twice on Sunday.

Pitino landed in the perfect spot, he can do what ever he wants and the media will look the other way. He's always been a favorite of the North East media. There's a 50% chance he'll do great and 50% chance he'll just be like any other coach in the NCAA. But there's 100% chance he'll find a way to stay in the press, whether it's good or bad. He could care less who he helps or craps on as long as he gets what he wants. Just ask Iona.
