OT: Online Persona vs. In Person Persona

I'm, vindicated I guess is the word, to see there are so many posters who struggle w/ the salty language...my wife thinks I'm the only golfer in the world who'll drop the F-bomb. She is oblivious to how much self-control I'm exercising when I limit myself to the one expletive
I police myself when I’m around the grandkids and my elderly in-laws, but otherwise I drop a lot of F-bombs and my favorite, the M-word throughout the day, especially if I’m on the turnpike or I-95 in Palm Beach, Broward or Dade counties.

I walked into a conversation at work one day that my boss and several coworkers were having. The subject was if you had ever “inadvertently” 🙄 used the “N-word” at work. I said “no, but I sure have used the M-word a lot”. One of my coworkers spoke up and said he could vouch for that.

We have a lot of interesting people here. I see some folks that are kind and nice. I see some folks who are combative and mean, a some in between. It got me wondering if your online personality matches your in person peronality.

I'd say I'm pretty much the same except in person, I curse a lot. Whereas I don't on here for obvious reasons. I'm not combative in either realm. I let people think what they want.
You're terrible in the tub. You take all the suds. ;)

In all seriousness, I'm trying to be nicer online, but some stuff gets the best of me. Honestly I just want people to laugh and feel at ease.

I get madder at certain sports takes than political takes. For instance you could agree with me on everything political, but if you're a UK bball/Alabama football fan, I'd rather you be my polar opposite politically and not a front-running jerk. I'm more apt to hang with you.

I’m much more frustrated on the message board. I feel like many takes that I run into on the message board do not align with the takes of the fans around me in person.

I would definitely be perceived as nicer in person. Or at least not as blunt . Sometimes I’m smiling when I’m giving someone a hard time but people can’t see it on here .

I’m kind of a go with the flow type person in real life, not usually bothered by much. Just wanna do my thing and don’t worry about what others are doing. I try to be pretty authentic here. I don’t really have enemies, try to get along with everyone.

I love baseball, lifting weights, eating meat. Pretty simple. I really am 6’5 and get told I look like Jim Halpert quite a bit.
I'm told that I look like Bruce Campbell. When I was younger it was Val Kilmer.

Yeah i definitely struggle with it. Guess it’s a choice for me because I don’t in my job or on here but out working on the farm or around the house I let them fly. Never around grandkids.

Okay, how did you get my girlfriend's picture?
The tramp, she is my mistress. Can't trust an ugly woman for nothing.

Oh, and by the way, I am a jokester in real life. I try to do it here, but it does not go over well since I hate emojis and don't use them most of the time. It can cause some confusion.

I work with a whole bunch of imbeciles that love being micromanaged. At our work they stand around the production lines watching everyone, or stand out there waiting for people to get back from break. They even track people going to the restroom. People are so controlled that they leave early from their breaks to get back to the floor. Today after the company "end of year" employee meal they had multiple head haunchos give speeches about "meeting our numbers", making sure to let everyone know that they expect more in 2025. Kind of ruins the taste of that cheesecake.
Funny. My wife manages inspectors and quality control personnel for the military contractor she works for at Ft. Sill and was just complaining yesterday that most of her people do not move unless they get directions from her first. She sometimes gets annoyed by it, but I believe she secretly likes the control. She also sets up everything for our 19-year-old daughter and tries the same thing with me which for this old grizzled retired army guy does not sit well. Just last night she was yapping about something I was doing when I turned and quipped: "I am not your workers or your daughter so, save that stuff for them". She went to bed minutes later not saying another word.

Yeah, it does make things a bit uncomfortable for a while after but is gives me some quiet time.

I say the same things on this site that I say to my family and friends. Same thoughts, same delivery.

I have a pretty dry, but hilarious sense of humor.

I have gotten into it a few times here which is different than real life as I’m a pretty easy going, go with the flow kind of guy.

I'm quite different in real life. IRL, I'm a smartass who cusses a lot. Sometimes funny. Very different from my normal stoicism on the board.

The older I get, the less patience I have for stupidity. I'm more or less a nice person (I can hear people laughing now), but I run into a lot more stupidity on this board and driving than I do in "real life", and it's tougher to hold my tongue (or keyboard) than it used to be.

I should walk away from this board for my own sanity and blood pressure, but thanks to Cal I now barely know anyone at all who even follows UK more than just distantly/casually. I come here for information on my favorite team and then can't help myself typing snarky replies to the dumber things that people post.

Hello Jedwar: Since you are a moderator, you might be able be able to help me.
There is/was a poster named CatPhight (spelling ?) who always had great pictures to share of whatever the days event was going on. I enjoyed reading his posts.
Is he OK?

Cool as a cucumber.

Mostly the same.. I enjoy a good banter occasionally but I've learned it's very rare to change peoples opinion. So I don't engage vs. Trolls or people I view as stubborn.

I’m pretty laid back on message boards, don’t post a lot but normally sarcastic. I’m 6’5 220 and rock solid on here but 5’9 240 in real life. I have no problem calling out trolls or want to be jerks just because they’re behind a keyboard. I’m actually even more laid back in life, outside of a few stupid m’fers, ****faces, and go **** yourself’s I typically get along with everyone.

I’m not certain, but I think I get along with most people here. Or at least I haven’t seen anything negative towards me. I know I won’t engage with someone if they attack personally. And I do admit I’ve had a couple mildly sarcastic posts towards obvious trolls
I also have a tendency to go out of my way to talk to the contrarians here.
My family calls me a peacemaker so there’s that

I don't know. But will sniff around.

I actually try to be better here than in person, although I occasionally fall into my "in my car pissed off at everyone around me because they are idiots so I yell at them from inside my car about how stupid they are" mode once in a while.

I am not confrontational in person, though. Just when I'm in my car and the idiots all around can't hear me. :)

I don’t post much, so I’m not sure what my online persona is. In real life I’m not a big talker, center of attention type of guy so I guess it’s about the same.
I can talk your ears off about hunting, fishing, camping and sports, but if I don’t have anything in common with someone I’m just a knot on a log.
