Maybe it isn't Cal's effort but that our program simply doesn't have the appeal and mojo anymore for these experienced top transfers. When you see 5 star recruits get favoritism no matter their performance on the court, it is something you might ponder in selecting Kentucky.
There is no doubt that the 5-star FR get a long leash. But, it's also the perception of immediate playing time. With a lineup of Wagner, Dillingham, Edwards, Bradshaw, Oscar (or anothe 5), the perception of playing time becomes an issue. Players believe (right or wrong) that they need 30mpg and 20 shots per game to showcase their abilities for NBA scouts.

With free transfers, players can move around as they need to maximize playing time without competition. There is currently competition at UK.

The starting 5 is set? And who might those 5 be?
I would say the perception is that the starting 5 is set. And, if you think with our current roster, that Wagner, Dillingham, Edwards, and Bradshaw aren't 4 of the 5, then you haven't thought about it.

Reeves coming back may shake that. Oscar coming back would lock the 5 down. But, make no mistake, the perception with transfers and incoming FR that haven't committed, is that there isn't much playing time to be had at UK.

Kansas is offering a starting position whereas UK's starting five is already set. We are looking for reserves which the top transfers are not willing to be.
Often can't tell if something is stated sarcastically or not. But I can't understand or agree with the idea that "UK's starting five is already set." What decent basketball player would ever come in to a program where your performance doesn't matter in regard to who starts? Moreover, what competent basketball program trying to win a Title and the most games possible would operate that way? You always bring in a player that might be better than the guy on your roster, right? If he is, he's the starter; if not, he's the backup - simple, clean and correct approach. If the coach can't convince the players to come, ok. But to give them the idea that the starting five is already set is a non-starter with any player I'd want on the team.

I doubt anyone on the coaching staff is telling potential recruits that "the starting 5 is set". But, players know where there is an easier path to playing time. I'm not entirely clear on the roster for KU, but let's use UL as an example. Mgbako could easily see that it may be easier to get playing time over the UL 4 than getting playing time over Bradshaw.

Barnhart chased away boosters for 20 years, Came back to hurt us now, his wanting to be squeeky clean proved to just hold us back…

And now the boosters money we do have and collective is going towards football …. All while we have a coach that’s the biggest narcissist in a decline this side of Trump….

This is a master effing class on how to speed run failure for a blue blood…. Congrats to Mitch , hope the two 10 win football seasons was worth destroying our bball program
We signed the #1 class. Totally falling apart because boosters were somehow chased away says the Tom Jurich fanboy desperately wanting to run a dirty program. Mitch didn’t even allow us to have stoppers that squirt to the ceiling.

Our failure has been due to poor coaching from Cal, not a lack of talent. We sign a top 5 usually top 2 class every year.

I hope it is IU (puke) but can't be KU. Self getting it done. So much for any issues with the NCAA.
Kansas with 5 Level-1 violations hanging over their filthy cheating heads & the NCAA does absolutely nothing about it. The NCAA is so mad at Kansas that they will probably hit Cleveland State with 5 years probation.

Kansas going to win another one while Cal sits around and does nothing.
What would really be a sour site was if KU ended up winning the whole thing this year, the year UK and Cal landed one of the top recruiting classes of all-time.
