Oscar on espn2 right now

Probably naive but am not all that concerned if Oscar leaves. Ugo will almost certainly be a much better (defender) and will bring some desperately needed protection at rim.

We need to open things up next year.

I'd rather have him back but if not it is what it is.

Ugonna has potential, but I worry about his lack of in game reps last year and basically throwing him into large minutes next season.

With the way the roster is looking, we’re going need to the freshman to live up to their hype right out of the gate.

Did you mean to say "Ugo will almost certainly be a much better defender"?

I love Oscar and hope he kills it but now we are in a mess. How could Cal let it go this far without a backup plan?
Because Cal is infatuated with the NBA and getting kids drafted. It's the only redeeming quality he has as UK coach. He can't teach an offense, puckers up at the end of games, screams at refs nonstop, makes promises to recruits depending on their ranking.

Yeah you’re naive. No Oscar and we go home first weekend I promise. We probably lose 10-12 games as well. We have no elite toughness without him. We are a bunch of freshman and portal scraps if oscar leaves. And this garbage about opening it up. Haven’t you guys realized cal started doing this in 2020 with horrid results. We did it again in 2021 only to flame out in first round. And last year we opened it up with a top 20 offense and a second round out. Opening things up aren’t going to fix anything. Cal cannot win like that. He never has. Every successful team he’s ever had won on the backs of their defense. That is 30 years of coaching. And it doesn’t matter how people think he should adapt. The college game is won with defense. This attempt to emulate the gd awful nba screw it. Cal does not have men who can play a wide opened game. We have weak bodies for the front court. Let’s be logical here instead of asking for cal to experiment more with our program. He brought in that 2020 class that was strong on paper and won 9 games. If he doesn’t get it together this team could follow in that teams footsteps. Maybe not to that degree but in terms of massively underachieving.

All these guys who Cal keeps telling, "I can't hide you" sure do seem like they enjoy being hidden.

Sharpe and Livingston should have a playdate.
Wheeler hid on senior night. They are finding ways. Cal has lost it.

And I will say this. If we lose oscar forget about a run next season. The portal is cleaned out for any guy who would be any real benefit. It looks like a very weak front court. No one left on the board. It’s Oscar or we re in for it next year. I don’t care how good those freshmen are.

Oscar's awful pick and roll defense completely negates his rebounding prowess against good teams. I'm not going to cry myself to sleep if Oscar leaves but on the other hand I think bringing in Johnson for help defense improves our defense immensely when he's playing next to Oscar.
Heck. He's going to help our defense period. I'll be very disappointed if he doesn't pick UK Saturday.

And see everybody this is why you sit on your ass and watch numerous good optiosn go in the portal, only go after a guy who was using the Kentucky the whole time, then put everything in Oscar returning when it sounds like he is gone, and know look what is likely to happen, cal will have another glaring hole in the roster, which will give another excuse if Kentucky struggles, it’s the same thing over and over again

All of the “it’s time to move on from Oscar, we can’t win with him” clowns about to get their wish. Going to sorely miss his rebounding, leadership, and toughness next year. At least his name will be in the rafters one day. He deserved a deep tourney run. Shame he didn’t get more help.

I agree but he fouls a lot and brings his hand down on blocks, some officials will have him with 2 fouls before the first TV timeout. Then what do we do, play zone? 😂

Tia is not good. Said from the start we had to get Oscar back. Now that he's gone and he will be we are done. 8-12 losses and be lucky to win the first two games in the tournament.

Yeah, have to hope he has improved. Like I said it isn't that I don't want Oscar back. I just think we will play a little different if he isn't.
