Oscar: ‘I believe there will be a team in the NBA that will love what I do’

Calipari has recently been a player or two short of making up for his coaching deficiencies.

This year will be his last. I bet he escapes to someplace out West. He's turned into a joke.
Not true. A 2 seed just one season ago. And with only 2 players. That's coaching. This year's team over achieved. That again is coaching.

Cal is going nowhere but to the UK practice court and the recruiting trail. At least for 6 more years. Maybe more?

This years team "overachieved"??? What?
So we're paying this guy 9 million a year and the expectation is less than the 2nd round and more than 12 losses?
What the hell are you smoking?

Although in another thread I said “Oscar killed it today”, Kyle Tucker made a good point. That Oscar did that today against the same players (or less) that he did for us. Against true NBA players, still yet to be proven.
Exactly! Oscar of course wants to make a living in the NBA, any college bb player does. But Oscar had a pretty average Oscar game against other guys who aren't good enough to be surefire NBA draft picks. In a scrimmage where they have not had time to develop any sort of team chemistry. He made his first 4 shots, missed his last 4 and grabbed his college average of rebounds.

This was not some other worldly performance that will guarantee he is drafted at all, let alone first round guarantee money.

What does everyone expect him to say? That he feels there will be no teams that like what he does? He may be gone, but a little bit of an overreaction on this quote. He always has a positive attitude. That won’t necessarily get him drafted though. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
And...he hasn't hired an agent. He can't be too confident about getting drafted. I see it the same way...he is a positive, confident player. Those are traits that make him a very likable person.

Maybe he stays in the draft. Either result (return to UK or stay in the draft) wouldn't surprise me.

But he outperformed 90% of the other guys vying for one of those non-lottery (or 2nd round) draft picks.
I don't think anyone is saying "look at what Oscar did he will go in the lottery and be an all-star". We are saying Oscar is looking the part of a potential pro, worth drafting at least in the 2nd round (maybe late 1st), who COULD contribute to an NBA team.
And I think they were saying yesterday, the first half of the 2nd round now gets guaranteed $ also. And that players may not want to be in those last 15 2nd round picks, so that they can choose what team may be the best fit for them.

Oscar is gone I think, Reeves may be back I do not see any Ky will not have any bench next year. Cal does not seem to have been after any of the transfers other than the big boy that went to Kan and this Johnson may go someplace else.
Where is Reeves? I mean he should be about 99% sure by now I’d think.

He still is making an impact at the rim for the Suns and rebounding was the basis for my comparison of the 2. Oscar has the edge in his mid-range game which would separate him from Biyombo and certainly don't expect him to evolve into an Al Horford type big man who has also been a facilitator in the offense. Averaged as much as 5 APG during his first tenure in Boston. Horford shot 45% from 3, averaged 2.3 made 3's per game. Horford & Oscar's games aren't really close.
I do think Oscar has good enough touch and form to develop a 3 point shot with his work ethic.
