Out of 13 out-of-conference games, Kentucky plays 2 teams outside of the Kenpom pre-season 150:
  • #186 South Florida
  • #234 Eastern Kentucky
You could argue both of these games were "favors" to their respective coaches and/or schools (Coach O at USF and EKU being an in-state school). Either way though, 11 of 13 non-conference opponents within the top 150 teams is great, smart scheduling. I'd love to know if any other team this season can match or exceed that total OOC.

Meanwhile, Louisville's out-of-conference schedule includes 10 teams (out of 13) outside of the Kenpom pre-season 150:
  • #285 Samford
  • #313 Hartford
  • #217 St. Francis Brooklyn
  • #153 St. Louis
  • #239 Grand Canyon
  • #181 Eastern Michigan
  • #336 Kennesaw State
  • #218 Western Kentucky
  • #227 UMKC
  • #329 Utah Valley
I know the ACC is tough at the top but this is just embarrassing scheduling for Pitino. Considering their games against Michigan State and Kentucky are both on the road, how pissed do you have to be if you're a season ticket holder?

That schedule is embarrassing. Of course Pitino will probably say it's the hardest OOC he's ever scheduled.

Hard to even talk about the two OCC schedules in the same sentence.I looked at UL's the other day and thought this can't be right,no one would do that on purpose

What do you mean? That is the toughest schedule of all time by the Greatest team in the history of the Game! Just ask Escortino!

How would the conference schedules brake down?
Louisville's conference schedule:
  • #60 Wake Forest
  • #41 NC State
  • #56 Clemson
  • #30 Pittsburgh
  • #37 Florida State
  • #85 Georgia Tech
  • #131 Virginia Tech
  • #3 Virginia
  • #7 N. Carolina
  • #157 Boston College
  • #1 Duke
  • #16 Notre Dame
  • #33 Syracuse
  • #1 Duke
  • #30 Pittsburgh
  • #21 Miami-FL
  • #85 Georgia Tech
  • #3 Virginia
That's 7 games v. Top 25, only two games outside of the top 100. Average in conference rank of 44.28

Kentucky's conference schedule:
  • #68 Ole Miss
  • #49 LSU
  • #77 Alabama
  • #111 Miss. State
  • #162 Auburn
  • #92 Arkansas
  • #20 Vanderbilt
  • #167 Missouri
  • #78 Tennessee
  • #44 Florida
  • #52 Georgia
  • #48 South Carolina
  • #78 Tennessee
  • #39 Texas A&M
  • #77 Alabama
  • #20 Vanderbilt
  • #44 Florida
  • #49 LSU

Only 2 games v. Top 25, only three games outside of the top 100. Average in conference rank of 70.83

No one is going to argue that Louisville is in the tougher conference but in no way does that conference schedule make up for that OOC embarrassment for Louisville. I hate them both but look at Duke and UNC's OOC. Last I checked, they also play in the ACC and they don't shy away from some tough OOC games and they definitely don't schedule 11 pushovers OOC.

Pitino probably scheduled in this manner because he knows wins are going to be hard to come by this season. He's padding the W column.

If they lose any of those games they are staring the NIT right in the face because they are going to get hammered in the ACC this year.
What's funny is some of their fans only foresee "4 or 5 losses this year".
They had 9 losses with last years team which would crush this team.
Looking at their schedule I see 11 definite losses before the ACCT and that's being generous. I figured wins against everyone except MSU and UK in the pre conference schedule and I counted road wins at places like G-tech, Miami and Clemson. I also figured they would beat Syracuse, Pitt and G-tech at home.
They better find a way to get a couple markee wins or they'll be NIT bound.

Checked Duke and KU's too.

KU has 5 teams outside the Top 150 (3 in the 200s and 1 Div 2).
Duke has 4 in the 200s and 1 at 171.
We have 2 outside Top 150.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Pitino already said this is the best team he's coached in 40 years. We don't see how they battle everyday, so I don't know how we can make assumptions with any accuracy... I mean they have two 5th year transfers leading the way who have never played in the NCAA tourney but are downright studs according to UL, a big man knocking down granny-shot FT's, and play in the best conference. 2-3 losses at most and an easy walk to the title. After all, it's the best team Pitino has ever had. [eyeroll]

Watching that dude take those granny shots last night was absolutely embarrassing.

Funny how you guys like to spin stuff. You are tight the UL out of conference schedule is bad but UL has a meat grinder conference schedule plus UK and Mich State on the road. As of now UL has 9 top 25 games on the schedule which is far more than UK. While UL is playing Duke and Virginia twice along with NC UK will be playing SEC cupcakes.

I think the SEC teams will win some of the OOC games they usually drop since the league may be better overall than it has in recent years.Teams like Miss St,Ala ,Ole Miss and UT may make a stronger OOC showing than normal.

And UL will be getting the crap beat out of them while we are picking up wins.

what's going to be embarrassing for ul is when they lose to a couple of those cupcakes.

I wonder how many he...blows. [jumpingsmile][laughing]:pimp:

You can't really get a good grip on just how bad that schedule is, until you factor in the idea that even the most delusional ul fans realize it's bad.

What a terrible outlook on OOC schedule. In other words. " hey we know our OOC schedule is a joke but we play in a good conference so it's ok. " Are you freaking kidding me? OOC sos will completely pay dividends when tourney time rolls around. Any idiot UL fan who thinks otherwise is, well, being a typical UL fan.

And if ther is a laughing point against other teams, it's their joke of a ooc schedule.

Like I mentioned in a previous post, Duke and UNC are in the same conference as Louisville and you don't see them scheduling like Louisville in the out of conference.

Also, I've seen plenty of Louisville fans ripped this OOC schedule. Read a thread from you scout board and see what your fellow fans think. What are they trying to spin?

Doesn't matter, they will be lucky to end above .500 this year. They think if they win 18 games they're in, but without a single top 30 win, how is that possible?

If they do manage to get in they'll be a play-in 12 seed.

Funny how you guys want to brag about the ACC but then use it as an excuse when you get your a$$ kicked.
