Ole Miss will be major factor in SEC right away

Shouldn't you say he is "Slapping it" in the portal...huh, huh...horrible human, A+ basketball coach

I think the SEC is going to beat Cal into retirement this year. A lot of teams have stockpiled strong rosters full of grown ass men.

Feel like we may be in for a rude awakening.

Beard is killing it in portal and is far and away best Coach in SEC IMO - they will have a say in who wins regular season
He needed a lot.
The roster he inherited was one of the worst in the SEC.
Still a longshot to make postseason.

Ole Miss got the woman choker and we got the game choker

He kept Brakefield and Murrell. Pulled in Murray from G'Town, Nunez from Arizona St and Cisse and Sharp. It's not a great transfer class, but it's not bad. They will have a solid starting lineup and maybe can get to 20-21 wins this year.

I think a lot depend on some key players still making decisions: Oscar, Holland, Kobe Brown, Broome, and Tolu Smith.

(2) Tennessee, likewise, got 3 really good transfers, but lost Phillips, Nkamhoua, and James, potentially. They won't be any better or worse imo.

(3) Arkansas got a lot of transfers, but they are losing a ton of talent too. Holland would change things and put them in a really good spot, otherwise I think they are going to be about the same.

(4) A&M got everyone back. They will be really good. I think people nationally are overlooking them.

(5) Auburn will be improved so long as they get Broome back.

Then (6) Miss St and (7) Missouri are kind of held hostage to Smith and Brown right now. Both will be really good with them and likely not improved much without. Neither team lost much other than their big though. I've got them here for now.

(8) Ole Miss has been talked about and I would put them in below these top 7 (incl UK)

(9) Alabama looks like they won't be a tourney team to me right now.

(10) Florida pulled in some good transfers, but I don't think they've improved. (11) Georgia and (12) LSU are in the same boat.

Then USC and Vandy will be pretty poor.

He’s going to flop at Ole Miss. he is not the best coach. UK has the best coach. Beard is not even top 5

UK is winning the SEC next season.

No, their transfer class is just ok but I don't think it fits together as a team very well at all. Sharp and Cisse are not gonna score at all in the SEC. He's got a long way to go in order for Ole Miss to be a legit factor

Exactly, he won't be at Ole Piss any longer than necessary...maybe to the Tarholes next year if Baby Hubert doesn't pick up the pace...
Would be a perfect fit too. Beginning to think college basketball coach is up there with pimp in terms of how much sleaze you have to do to win anymore.

I know sports have always been a bit iffy in terms of player attainment, but man it makes you miss guys like Joe B and Crum that at least had SOME integrity.

Idk...I think there's a reason Lane Train has stayed put. It's not because others haven't made a solid run at him.

I'm surprised you feel that way. Nunez is a solid pass-first PG. Murrell and Murray on the wings are both double-digit scorers. Brakefield at PF, rather than C, is going to be much improved, with Cisse/Sharp inside swatting shots and rebounding. They have a really solid lineup. They also have zero depth.

It seems as though, as UK fans under Cal, we forget that some coaches can win and not have to have one of the five most talented rosters in the country. It's an odd thought for us, I know.

If i had to rank the SEC coaches, not on past achievements but on who i’d prefer to run our program right now i think i’d go with Oates #1.

Ive always kind of thought Beard was just a poor man’s Cal.

But id guess id go:

1 Oats
2 Pearl
3 Beard
4 Williams
5 Muss
6 Gates
7 Cal
8 Barnes
9 Golden
10 McMahon
11 Jans
12 Paris
13 Stackhouse
14 White

It’s tempting to put all of Golden, McMahon, Jans and Paris higher purely on potential but i’m not convinced on any of them yet. At least i know what Barnes and Cals floors are.

I think Gates is going to be terrific however.

I could see him jumping to UofL too. If KP has another year like the one just concluded, he's gone. UofL was worse than they should have been last season.

Don't see Beard ever coaching in the Big East or Pac 10 and def not the Big 12 anytime soon. But, I could see him landing at Florida State, WVU or UofL if any of those jobs open up in the next few years.

I could easily see him going Lawrence if Self leaves for whatever...

lol far and away best coach in the SEC

So we are already off the Oats bandwagon? lol

There's a lot of good coaches in the SEC. I don't think anyone is really "far and away" better than the pack tho.
