Official Game Thread: Kentucky V. Ottawa

Just want to jump in again and say that I really agree with you guys on the posts concerning AP and Willis. I like the idea of Poy starting to get his legs back under him, but having some more to go before he gets there. Having goals and pushing oneself to get those goals checked off is a big thing with me. Struggling with brain tumors does that for me. Periodically, I have to simply suck it up and hang on hard to make those dogged goals. Usually, it's very satisfying making them. Other times, I just have to ratchet down my expectations.

but I'm not going to do that for this team this year. My expectations are going to stay high and I really hope we are the last team standing when it's all said and done. First exhibition game in our back pocket makes me feel better for the year to come.

Runt signing off, great to be out here on the rafters hangin out with everyone for another season !

Could not get the game here in Southern OH on TWC. Had to drive to the top of the hill and search the radio in the truck until I got a good signal. Reminded me of times long ago when I would spin the knob until I found the trusty voice of Caywood talking about Issel and Pratt and all of that... God I love UK basketball and the first sounds of the season.

UK Radio Network team was raving about Murray. Did he really look that good?

Booker was an interesting case as a 3 point shooter. The numbers are what they are- he hit 58/141, for 41.1%, which is very good (and 77/146 on non 3's- which is a big part of why the NBA was so high on him. He was more than a specialist). However, he did have 12 games last year where he didn't hit a 3, so there is some merit to the streaky comments.

Compare that to Doron Lamb. Lamb took 140 and 163 threes in his 2 years, so about the same amount of average attempts per game as Booker. Lamb only had 8 games as a freshman and 5 as a sophomore in which he failed to make a 3.

As for Murray, I expect him to be more like Brandon Knight. The one valid criticism of Murray I can see is that, just like Knight, he's prone to the occasional heat-check shot, meaning his shot selection can go wonky at times. I think Murray is less prone to it than Knight, but it's been an element of his game every time I've seen him play. He'll get hot, start dominating the game, and then throw up a few shots that have little chance of going in. So I suspect that Murray will be in the high 30's or low 40's from 3

I had a very similar struggle. I had to move my iPad around in several directions until I got a good wi-fi signal in my basement. Its just part of the struggles we have these days to watch the Big Blue. I was so tired I went to bed early.

But too answer your question Murray was awesome. Just 1 assist away from a triple double.
