**** Offical Blue White Game Thread ****

I hope Bradshaw isn't expecting to get lots of shots because our gaurds are so good. Our bigs need to just be high energy guys who get put back buckets and from running the floor. This along with good defense and rebounding.
A couple of post up buckets wouldn’t hurt from time to time but our guards and perimeter should definitely do the bulk of the scoring

We need an elite rim protector and this team can roll. Can Oyenso and Z combine to do that and not get beat a lot? Hope so.

Just having true size down there will help. I love Oscar, but he wasn't extremely tall. He was just a hard worker and phenomenal rebounder. If that man had Z's size? We'd be talking about 10 right now, not nine.

It's almost always a disappointment with one's favorite team. If it ever works out, it's a pleasant surprise. At least that's the way I look at it.

I don't think this year's KY team has enough beef. We're gonna get pushed around.
We don’t have enough beef to play Cals preferred grind it out possession for possession basketball. But we have enough speed and versatility and firepower to play like the Nova title teams and keep offensive pressure on the other team to keep up. Don’t play over controlled possession for possession. You push pace and know you’ll give up an easy basket here and there but you’re counting on the other team not being able to keep up and guard all 5 guys that are capable of shooting and scoring for 40 min at full speed. Shoot passing lanes and have active hands on defense. Guard the perimeter aggressively instead of trying to just keep guys in front and challenge the shot. …….it’s been proven time and time again that you don’t need 7footers or Shaq in CBB; it just isn’t the style that Cal plays

Damn Burks had 20, Thiero can play. I think Burks may actually contribute this year.
I smell:

With all 3 seven footers healthy we will go 12 deep; maybe the deepest team in UK history!

Wagner
Dillingham
Reeves
Shep
Hart
Edwards
Thiero
Burks
Mitchell
Big Z
Ugonna
Bradshaw

RobD looked awesome but blue had no business beating white.

Wagner, Edwards, Reeves, Mitchell are supposed to be 4 starters. VS Reed, Dillingham, Burks, Hart, Thiero….arguably 2 guys in the rotation maybe 3

I'd almost rather see Ugo out there for this reason...he fits that bill a little better; in skillset and mindset.

This post right here explains why UK is scary good and why preseason #16 is a direct kick in my big blue nutz.
I said we were preseason top 2 or 3 in Canada during the summer. Now with Big Z and a conditioned Dilly? We may be the best team in America right F’in now.

Reed is the glue guy. If you're a stat hound, you'll miss it. Burks is a fine scorer. Thiero -- the hardest working man in show business. Dillingham's quickness distorts things. There's only 5 guys on the floor. If you've got a player as quick as Dillingham -- who's streaky -- hitting everything he throws up, you're game plan goes out the window.

And there was no game plan. It was just a pick-up game with whistles.

Scary thing is not 1 of our 3 big men played.

This team is beating Kansas so get ready.

Didn’t get the block but check out Sheppard’s vertical. Great picture.👌

I’m cool with that. I just think this year the question mark will be defense. We can flat score so if they can defend as a team, the sky is the limit. Comes down to the bigs IMO and we have no clue yet what we’ll get from them. It’s gonna take some time and I know people are sick of that but once again we are “behind” and will just have to hope they gel.

At the game - Dilly is special... clearly comfortable now on the court. Offensively was creative and just wow at his first step.

Adou looks completely different than last season he clearly put on some weight and got taller. No chance you can put him at guard now.

Reed - super smart player and gets people open looks was awesome to see him direct traffic.

Edwards seemed underwhelming but I bet his box score looks filled up. Think he needs to take a step if UK wants to be in the Final 4 conversation.
Edwards scored a bunch in the second half, but in one-on-one matchups with Thiero, Adou thoroughly outplayed him. Reminds of when Thiero outplayed Livingston, only to mostly ride the pine when the season came around.

Clearly Thiero needs to be on the floor. A lot. And if he outplays dudes in practice too, make him a starter. But Edwards needs to be on the court too.

So I’d go with Wagner, Dilly, Edwards, Thiero, and Tre and bring Reeves off the bench. Or bring one of Wagner/Dilly off the bench as the 6th man.

1-15 against K state when it mattered the most. Why does he set up to receive the pass so far away? He did it all last year. He’ll be wide open and set up in NBA land when he could easily get just behind the line.
I couldn’t tell you. But if he’s averaging 40% or better from 3, I’m not going to be very critical

Sweet.
