Maybe a hangover from blasting a top 10 team at home, maybe just didn't have the energy today for some reason, idk but I'm really not upset about the L at all, I still really like this team

It does appear if the 3’s aren’t falling they might be in trouble in any game.
We will be a high variance team all year. Young(not an excuse just more reason for variance game to game), not physically dominant athletes that can impose their will, not great defensively.
The biggest takeaway for me is you gotta get positive contribution from DJ or Rob to win every night. Don’t think we have another PG on the roster as I view Reed as a true combo guard. Reed did great tonight but I don’t love him as a PG in the half court.

Been saying that all year long. Dilly and Reed were shooting over 50% from three on the season, that simply isn't sustainable. The offense wasn't a complete mirage, but it may have been our hottest shooting stretch of the season.
And I've been saying it about Oats' offense for years. When shots are falling he looks like a genius, when they're not it looks awful.

Earlier in the year it was said that Reeves should be the sixth man. We cannot go very far depending on him. He has a role and it is an important role but we cannot have him be primary scorer.

This game was all about effort of which we had none until the bitter end when we were hustling and diving for balls. You know, things we were doing before this game. We looked past UNCW today.
Blew that 14-pt second half lead against Kansas. Couldn't hold the lead after the final media timeout.
What if Miami was really just overrated after all? They lost some key pieces to that Final Four team, you know.

I think we still have to grow into the team we saw during the first half against Kansas and the game against Miami. I believe we'll get better. Whether we reach our potential depends on a lot of factors. Unfortunately, one of those factors is coaching.
We didn't take that many threes. I've never seen so many dumb posts. The majorty o those acting mad didn't even watch the game.
10 less. Now at the roughly 30% rate they shot tonight, that could have made a difference. Instead Cal went to running through the post and as a result terrible spacing. UK shot many more mid range shots and shot them poorly. That is definitely not modern basketball.
There are a lot of Freshman playing, there will be more losses to weaker teams to come. I hate, but this is what reality looks like, really good sometimes and really bad others. It is what it is.

Don’t know, but UNCW kept us from getting many good looks. Sheppard came alive tge second half, but everyone else , particularly Reeves could not get many good looks. Also, Dilly had an off game and contributed little to the offense.
This team isn’t and won’t be good. It’s poorly constructed and even more poorly coached. Two 23-yr old average players who can’t play a lick of defense or score against good teams. Two 5 star freshman that are really 3 stars. There are two really good freshmen. Once one or two of the bigs are back, plowhorse basketball will be back as well.
We are like a high level mid major team that lives and dies by the 3 ball and today we died. Our defense has to get better we could not get a stop at any point in the final few minutes when we had to have it.
Uncw guarded kentucky up and over the 3 point line. They played good perimeter defense and collapsed on interior passes. Basically the uncw coach used The Calipari strategy. Works every time.
Either that or his ass needs to be parked on the bench! Unbelievable how much run that guy gets. Oh wait….
This teams defense is extremely meh, so wr gotta have the offense to offset that. Days when we're cold like today result in shitty losses like this one.
We didnt live and die by the 3... We only shot like 17. at a 30% clip ...even the bad shooting day we had... take 10 more threes, hit 3... we win by 2 at least. Without having a dominant inside scoring big, we need to be shooting more 3's and not with Edwards,
