Not Everybody is UK; Florida Taking Buses to Georgia

The article really belies the point of that tweet. Florida's private jet is apparently too big and too nice to land at the Athens airport. That's the opposite of what RTC was trying to imply, that some universities are budget conscious.

At any rate, I'm pretty sure that Kentucky also buses to a lot of their closer games.

I bet UF's Football team doesn't ride the bus like that. I might be wrong but 'Are you Mad Bro'?

If this is in regards to the $800k trip...What am I missing here? Since when can you take charter buses to the Bahamas on a damn ferry?

Do they bus to Athens?

Dumbest move Billy will ever regret.

Being talked into staying at that crap program.

Probably only Louisville... MAYBE Nashville for the SECT and Vandy.
Include UT Knoxville.........

I knew Florida didn't really give a damn about basketball, but I had no idea it was this bad...

For my info.......Does the Lexington airport accommodate UK's charters or do they fly from Louisville?
I moved out of state 30 years ago and have not really kept up.

excellent addition -- at least if they stop at a Druther's Coach Munster will get a free dinner.

(Back in the day, when it was still Burger Queen, on baseball road trips our coach would always drive and we'd always eat at BQ cause they give the driver a free meal)

By the thread title, had to think this was a scouting trip info about UK by FL thread info. Not even close. It was about a teams transportation.

GA @ UK on 2/3/15 and then UK @ UF on 2/7/15. It happens.

I am confused and enjoying every min of this season.

Those where the 3 I was thinking of, and also probably Indianapolis.

Florida's athletic department spends over $20 million more each season than UK's. I know they didn't write the hit piece but that information should have been obvious to the guy that did.

They put up a pontoon bridge last June.

If you'll recall the post a couple of years back about the trip to Hawaii, there was quite a stir on here when the news broke that the team made that trip by bus, too. Do you recall that?

Brockway is a guy Oscar Combs was lauding on twitter yesterday for covering UF sports in an "unbiased" manner - FWIW.

I think what some are speculating isn't whether or not UF is committed to athletics but is to what degree are they committed to the basketball program relative to other basketball programs - given the stature of their coach and the amount of success he's brought them.

Athens runway was lengthened maybe 15 years ago. I know UK has chartered in there but not on very big plane.
Lexington airport can accommodate anything any athletic team would fly
in there.

how young and dumb do you have to be to use the phrase, "you mad bro?" Just curious, but guessing age of 15, getting D's in most subjects

Miami International Air is used by a number of schools to fly their football teams. Their planes are all Boeing 737's I believe. Which hold well over 100 passengers. Seems like a bit much for a basketball team. And as mentioned too big for an airport like Athens. I'm not sure how Florida switching to them and their 737's could be cheaper than flying the smaller Delta Regional jets that they previously chartered.

Hey don't make fun of Waffle House, can't beat them one of my favorites!!!!!

I would imagine Cal generates enough income for UK that they could take lavish vacations like Obama, and still have money left.
