Guys, I don't often start threads, but I thought I should share this with the community. I've gotten a few Norton block warnings on the site recently and they are getting more frequent. Most porn sites don't have this sort of warning from Norton. So what does this mean?

Do I think Rivals has bugs? Not really or at least not intentionally. Do I think some of the advertising redirects are dirty? Almost certainly and there are a lot of redirects. I suspect that complaints of this nature are what prompted Norton to take the action it did.

Just to be on the safe side, make sure your virus signatures and software are competent and up to date. Just remember you get what you pay for. Also, make sure you are backing up your data and MOST IMPORTANTLY, patching your software. Mods, I think you guys should kick Rivals in the pants. They need to either screen their redirects or be a little more selective in what they allow for ads. If that's not the problem, then they need to be a more introspective. Somebody has a problem.

I had to do the same thing: install a pop-up blocker. The ads are probably the problem.

I had the same problems with redirects. Windows Defender and Malwarebytes said I didn't have a virus. I enabled the popup blocker in Firefox and the problems went away.

I have been having some problems with this site. Norton has been blocking them.

Us old folks (like me) don't know much about computers as we did not grow up with them. I have a question and it is this. Firefox Adblock Plus OK to use on Windows 10 & will it block adds on FB and other places?

I use to have norton yrs ago, I always had problems with it ,even professionals who works on computers said it was not that good. I have web root these days really does a great job..

Just a comment. Ad blocking is one thing. But there are other issues. Click jacking being one of those. Bottom line: Virus signatures up to date at all times. Make absolutely certain your OS is patched, always. Back up your data.

As far as specific products, a discussion of those usually results in a pissing contest. That's not my goal as I just want folks to be careful. Suffice to say, if your virus scanner/ad blocker/etc is free, beware. If you are getting security tools you can't trace to a specific trusted source, beware.

The biggest joke was on me. I'm paying good money to AT&T for high speed internet with a brand name Anti-virus protection. I was always making sure Everything was scanned and this and that. About 3 or 4 months ago I thought I was being Hi-jacked.

Called local geek and told me to bring hard drive to him. 3 days latter my wife picks it back up. He had scrubbed it from top to bottom, installed some new anti-virus software and other programs. He said never seen one infected with so many viruses, Trojans, ect ect.... Told my wife the supplied anti-virus from AT&T was terrible and totally ineffective! Can't believe the difference in speed, reliability, and function. Best thing very reasonable compared to buying a new system.

One other thing be careful out there. Someone, somehow stole my identity. They had applied for my SS benefits. Thank God I jumped right on it. They almost had everything. I took care of business at SS office and started Data-Lock. Will never feel safe again but I have more protection now. My guess medical records or one of the Credit Bureaus both have been compromised.

Stay safe!

Those porn sites can mess with your hard drive and sometimes cause floppy discs

Also, if you want further Internet protection. Use Malwarebytes + Windows Defender (or Microsoft Security Essentials if you are in Windows 7 like me). If you use Firefox, get NoScript.

Yes, I also use Microsoft Security Essentials. Free and great antivirus software. I also use Malwarebytes to do a weekly scan.

And I also use Windows 7. Great minds and all that...:)

As someone posted in another thread, this site is the problem. None of this happens at any other site I visit. It is not simply annoying ads, I got redirected away from Rivals and could not get out without powering down the computer.

I think the malicious redirects exploit vulnerabilities in the new format that Rivals introduced about two years ago. This new format is heavily ad-driven, including video ads. I think they did a lousy job of implementing the new format.

I currently run Firefox on Windows 8.1. Firefox has a built-in ad blocker. Once I enabled the blocker, they problems have gone away at least for now.
