The next 10-11 games could very well define the next decade of Kentucky football. Everyone knows that college football is at a crossroads period, given all the conference realignment set to kick in next offseason along with the addition of the 12-team playoff.
Kentucky has managed to hold strong so far during the beginning of the NIL and transfer portal era, but if they finish this season strong they could really set themselves up to level up as a program over the course of the next decade. No recruit in the country remembers a time when Kentucky wasn’t a perennial bowl team, they’ve essentially made making a bowl game the FLOOR as opposed to the goal every season.
If Kentucky can make a NY6 type bowl game or pull off another 10-win season that could be the final push that shows future recruits that you can come to Kentucky and play in the CFP one day. That unlocks a whole other level of talent that we’ve only been able to sparingly bring in up to this point. At the very least they will have placed themselves above the middle tier of P5 programs (think like the South Carolina, Mississippi St, etc. tier) heading into a very crucial period in college football. Thoughts?
