This is going to kill college basketball. The game is a little physical but they can always call fouls if its too bad. That UT Georgia Tech game was awful with some of the non existent fouls that were called. If your guarding a post man are they saying that you cannot touch him at all. The arm bar in back is a foul using your body is a foul etc.......... How the hell is anyone going to guard each other??????

It will take adjustments by the coaches, players and we the fans. College basketball will survive and will be a more pleasing product in the long-run.

They always call it tight early in the year as a point of emphasis, but by conference play it will be how it always is.

CBB had become CFB
they allowed the hack-n-slap, hip check to go on far too long
it is sad they had to use drastic measures to correct their own failings

We'll need to wait until mid-season to actually know how games are called.

One good thing about the new rules if enforced; it will kill the Cards brand of Kung-Fu defense.
Great...now I've got the song Kung-Fu Fighting rattling around in my head! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yup. Long overdue. The adjustment period will be difficult only because things have gotten so out of control.

The game was fantastic in the 60s and mid 70s. Lots of offense. If they're trying to bring that back, good for them. An ugly period of transition will be worth it.

I watched most of the UT, GT game last night. I didn't have a problem with how the game was called. Yea there were some calls on the outside thats looked wishy washy but this needs to happen. UL fouled their way to a championship. CBB had become CFB on the hardwood. I like the freedom of movement. It should up the scoring and force players to move their feet. coach's who teach their teams to plat defense with their feet instead of grabbing will be succesful, like Cal.
