MSU loses

If Newman had committed, we wouldn't have gotten Murray. He's gonna be special, so I'm ok with MN going to MSU.

thank you Malik . GO "win your title" at Miss St and we will just try to win one as well. :joy:. I wish he would of just said I want to get my 30 shots a game and play where my dad did but to say he thought he could win a title at Miss St was just too much and I won't forget that.

Miss State is a guaranteed loser

They did get another 4* recruit today. Give it another two years and Howland and Pearl will have there programs at a top 25 level.

In Malik Newman's 3 all-star games at end of last year I wasn't that impressed with him. Murray outplayed him in both of the games that played against each other especially in the Nike Classic USA vs. World when Murray dropped in 31 points and in that same game SKALhad 23 points. Murray was the MVP and Newman couldn't hit anything from the outside in the few games I watched Newman play in last year. I am sure being his 1st game its going to take him some time to get warmed up and MSU has an experience team with 4 or 5 seniors in the first 6 players. Most of last years team is back this year and they have alot of experience this year. MSU has Ware and Daniels at forward and they both played 33 mins. Then you have Ready, Sword, and F. Thomas at Guards and they avg. nearly 30 mins. They are all Seniors except Ready and he is a Junior. Newman played 17 minutes and was 2-8 from field, 1-5 from 3 and 1-6 from Free Throws for 6 points. Maybe his injury with his Turf Toe is still bothering him but he missed 2 Free Throws and the score was 74-72 and could have tied it with those 2 fts and he missed both. Newman didn't have a great 1st game in front of the home crowd in Starksville, MISS tonight.

Newman made his choice, so go lie in it. Definitely cost himself millions, but hey, it was his choice. I understand UK is not for everyone, but why go to Miss State? There were a lot of other top tier programs he could have went to.

Yeah I didn't realize this but.....Mississippi State has 4 top 100 recruits, 5 total 4 star prospects and they added a 6'10 project guy today that has potential. They are going to be the second best program in the conference possibly starting next year. Who knew Howland could recruit the south this well????

And mudiay for Ulis. Funny how things work out
Howland plays soooo slow and so boring a style that it's like watching paint dry. Starkeville isn't the most wonderful environment either. But as some posters said, it was his choice and yes, it may cost him. I do not share the belief that MSU is going to be a juggernaut under Howland. 4 stars are nice and so are 5 stars, but recruits sometimes disappoint. I don't think Cal recruited anyone Howland has landed this Fall and one might ask whether there is a good reason for that?

Yeah, most of us were bummed about missing on Newman and Brown, but now we are so happy with the way it worked out. That's been the case more often than not under Cal.

I wish I could remember which poster it was but there was one guy who swung off Newman's jock and when we got Isiah Briscoe he lost his mind and went on a tirade about how Newman was bar none the best player in the class and Briscoe stunk and we weren't going to get him because he didn't want to play with other PG's. It was hilarious.

By all accounts Newman may have peaked already. Even the summer before his sr year he wasnt dominant, far from it. A one dimensional chucker is basically what he is. Sure he will go off here and there but I see more 5-15,7- 20,etc shooting games then anything else.

I hope MSU doesn't make the tournament this year!

Which tourney? The NIT? The CBI? CIT? I do know they are allowed to be in the SEC Tournament, although I think we should start a petition saying they shouldn't because they suck and lost to Southern.
