Monk and Bacon to G League

No time for them on court. At least they will get minutes in g league

I am a little surprised I figured Monk for one of the budding stars, maybe another Booker.

From what I hear right now, Monk can't hit the broad side of a barn.
Weird. I was sitting in a bar a few weeks ago and one of the games they were showing was the Hornets game, he was lighting it up. I think he had something like 25 points or so. I guess I saw the only good game he’s played.

Charlotte is under pressure to win now and they are not playing rookies. They are not going to let him have an unlimited green light like Donovan Mitchell since Charlotte was a solid team and have Kemba Walker to take 20 shots a game. Charlotte may need to blow up the team if they don’t improve.

For the month of December, Monk is shooting 32% from the floor. Good move to send him down and let him get PT instead of sitting on the bench and not being able to contribute.

lol Archie. You should have stopped with Wall and Eric. I don’t even know if Goodwin has a nba contract right now.

Won’t play defense. Contrary to popular opinion, they do play defense in the league and the coaches want some effort on that side of the floor. He’s not doing it so on down he goes.

One of these things is not like the others.

Goodwin has no NBA contract, was unemployed desperately looking for anyone to sign him for months, before finally getting only a bare minimum G-League contract this month. He's not the best example for the point you're trying to make there.
Goodwin was never on the level of the other two and was never going to be. The point was, he like several other UK guards could not shoot well at all, far worse than Diallo at this point. Yet, most all made it to the next level and several have done just fine. Goodwin was on the up tick and looked poised to be a solid role player until he regressed. The point is shooting is far from the only needed skill to be successful in the NBA and far worse shooters than Diallo have done it. Several from the same school.

Utah is a better team than Charlotte . Mitchell is just very very good . Also took advantage of a few injuries early on

If Monk can't shoot well in he NBA what chance does Hami have?
1. Monk is a 6'3 all shoot and essentially nothing else SG in the league. To me he is a spitting image of Jamal Crawford at his ceiling.. But Monk's 2nd biggest problem is he's a bit short for a SG in NBA. Not a ton of short SG ever been great.
2. Hami has alot to prove but Hami 6'5 and a bit better athlete...so his length and athleticism is NBA legit. Also, Hami does everything but shoot better than Monk. Way better rebounder, better defender, better off the bounce and all around he simply plays tougher.

I personally think Hami will be fine in NBA...maybe not an All star but I think he'll be fine. Monk better start shooting better because he's the same apathetic player in NBA that he was in college to all things besides shooting.

All Monk could do was shoot and score. If that's not working, he's useless

Last season, Monk seemed unwilling to do anything to help his team other than shoot and score. Because of this he was often a negative factor. And what was most frustrating to me was that there was no reason for Monk to be so limited. The physical gifts that Monk has seem special and particularly suited for basketball. He's so fluid and his reflexes so quick. There is no physical reason Monk shouldn't excel at his position in all aspects of the game.

At UK, I thought that as the season went on Monk got better playing the other necessary parts of the game besides shooting. And I just assumed that he had never been required to do these things before coming to college. But I knew that once he got to the NBA (or if he had stayed in college) he had to start taking on more responsibility to be a complete player. I have to believe he will eventually make those improvements, as many other players have done. If not, he's at best a journeyman - which in my mind would be a real shame given the tools he has to work with.

Lets be honest. Unless Monks goal was to become a Hall of Fame NBA player. I'm sure he has hit his life's goal. Guy's these day's have a monetary goal. Monk can play until he is 40 years old. All over the world. It's the one thing that does bother me about Cal. He treats this experience as a business. He knows how many guys he put in the pro's. And he knows the exact amount to the penny. That all those players have made. It is what it is. We are probably more concerned then Monk is about his lack of success in the NBA.

I am going to get hammered for this, but when players from Uk go to the nba,no particular ones, don't pan out like maybe they should, our fan base just digs in cuts them up no matter who it may be,I say have more respect for all of those individuals that wore and played for the big blue.

Goodwin laid it all out on a mediocre team when he was here. Went to the NBA after a year and although hes bounced around he shot 43% in 165 games and is still only 23. I hope he makes it. He can score.

Monk is a streaky shooter at this stage. He needs consistency, better ball handling, and defensive effort and he can be a great scorer in the league. The G league is made up of a lot of guys who have NBA and international experience. He’ll get his chance to improve more there than on the bench in Charlotte.

Interesting thing about Goodwin is that he's made $5.7 million in 4 seasons. I realize he hasn't cleared that amount, but if he has halfway taken care of his money, he shouldn't be hurting. Last year he made nearly $130K off of 2 ten day contracts and the Nets signing him for the rest of the season for a few weeks.

Yep. He could literally not work a single day for the rest of his life and still live very comfortably.

Who do you scout for? You should have warned the NBA before they drafted the kid.

Oh pardon me O wise one....but I have seen more minutes of Monk's cbb play than any NBA scout and would have shared my knowledge with any who called.:D (they didn't)
Monk was drafted (like many) for his potential , being scoring not a defensive stopper.

Defensive specialists are to stop scorers.......scorers must out do the defense..
At this time Monk does neither........sent down to learn or get attitude adjusted..

I believe most posters agree with me. Have a nice day:)

What a fool. One year of college and only able to secure a couple million dollars in less than 5 years.
Smh.... just plain dumb

I’m not sure why some of you are getting hung up on Goodwin. Okay, throw him out. There’s still tons and tons of guards/wing players that have thrived in the league despite being mediocre/bad shooters because they’re long and super athletic. That point isnt debatable.

Monks biggest issue in college, and now in the league, is that he just does NOT drive to the basket, even though he can. He takes unnecessarily difficult shots because he could make them in high school and (to a lesser extent) in college. Can’t do it in the NBA. Has to start driving more.

Attention bus passengers. Please disregard the bumps and bounces as they will soon subside. These are caused by KY fans throwing former players under the bus to make themselves feel knowledgeable. You may also notice a bad smell caused from gas passed when they’ve been eating their own.
