Cut Nets will be leading the mob with torch and pitchfork in hand.

Can't peak too early like last season. All I ask is that this team is playing their best basketball by March/April. That's the job of a coach. The team should be better at the end of the season than they were at the start.

Maybe so, but I don't see any "great" teams this year, including us (at least starting the season). UNCheat has the most experienced team in the rankings, but outside of Paige, they really don't have any standout players. Meeks hasn't shown yet he will be.

Lol I mean this is the crap that kills me on this forum. They are the preseason #1 team in the country yet you don't think they have any standout players other than Paige? Damn, Paige must be an absolute BALLER if he ALONE has earned them the pre-season top ranking. I mean good grief

Whaa?? According to your typical April attitude, UNC will have 4 homeless guys and a grandmother on the court this year -

Doesn't matter how many 5 stars are on the other roster, Cal is supposed to bring home the trophy every season, right? You like to make it sound like Kansas and Duke and UNC and all them are just scrubtown by comparison.

Very little chance we lose 5-6 IMO . But you are wrong the SEC will be really good this year. LSU , Texas A&M and Vandy are all top 20 teams. WE will have 6-7 tourney teams from our league . But UK could be the best team Cal has had by January as well. I think we lose 1-2 times in non conference and 1 during the SEC , probably at Vandy .
I don't see how LSU can ever be a top 20 team with the coach they have . I don't care who their players are .

He thinks all the democrats will win their race(s).

He still thinks Fox is solid for UK. We should hear something before signing day and maybe even the end of this week.

Football team should go 7-5

Basketball team should lose 5-6 games.
Looks like Matt was just a TINY bit off in his prediction that the Democrats would win everything tonight. lol

If he runs for office, I think he will probably have similar results.

Hope he sticks to reporting on UK and poking his finger in Little Brothel's eye. He is the best in the biz at doing that.

Agreed! 100% agreed on all points.

Excellent post, as usual.

I know we will lose a game or two we shouldn't, but I can't see 6 losses. It's not like we are low on talent, guys. I know it might take some time to get used to not having another 5 guys on our bench just as talented as our starters, but I promise you it happens all over the college basketball world every single year. Our bench has talent and I actually love the talent we have there. It's going to take some a month before they figure out how Good Murray really is. That kid is the best guard in college basketball. Skal is projected to be the top pick in the NBA draft. We have the talent and with Ulis being their leader, I Promise you all it won't take as long to get as a team like it might when we have a freshman pg. We are going to be very good and its going to happen a lot sooner than many seem to think.

If Poythress plays to the ability many here predicted he will, then the losses will be few and far between.

However, I do not see anything in Alex at this point to make me believe that as of yet.

Cal says he is only 80% so hopefully he gets there.

If I had to bet my house today, i would have to bet against Alex bringing the freshman Duke game performance on a consistent basis.

All I can say for sure is that if healthy he will be a huge help defensively and it looks like his shot is better.

Far cry from the BEAST Cal says we need from him.

Hmmm. Today's HL:

"Jones said Democrats who supported losing gubernatorial candidate Jack Conway had offered him advice, and that he had a response to those offers. "You guys are losing every race. Why should I use your advice?" Jones said. "I'm not saying that to be rude, but I was proven correct in this thing."'

Looks to me like he said the Dems would do well; the Dems did poorly; Jones says he knew the Dems would do poorly.

Or am I somehow reading that wrong/

I suppose he may have meant he was correct about not taking their advice, but he was definitely wrong about the outcome of the elections. I think he picked the dem in every one of them. His shat was torn up on the show this morning. I was pleasantly surprised that he mentioned Stumbo's speech. It was freaking bizarre.

You nailed it. Jones is either using revisionist history or he's speaking out of both sides of his mouth.
If Jones is interested in running for public office his timing could not be worse. Running as a Democrat in a national election on the heals of a hugely unpopular Democrat president makes it nearly impossible for him to win. That would only get worse if Hillary were to win. Jones thinks he identifies with Kentuckians, but honestly his political comments always sound pretty left-wing to me. And I don't think his opponents will have any trouble painting him as a liberal, Obama/Hillary/Nancy Pelosi disciple. The lone advantage is that Lexington is a fairly liberal district, so those voters may still vote him in.

I hate even talking about politics ever, and on a sports forum is even a bigger sin. I usually try to avoid it because Kentucky Basketball should be something we agree on regardless of our political leanings. So I apologize for that. (But I did enjoy the tears from the liberals last night..... they are so worried about the direction of our state, evidently).

That Alex is first or second team AA.

And the *only* reason we don't see it is between the ears - if you are capable of that against Duke, you can do it against anybody.

So tantalizing.

It's worse than Darius or T Jones, too - Darius teased us with All conference level skill, and then finally gave it to us as a SR.

Terrence teased us with AA level skill, and it was 50/50 whether we'd get it in a game.

Poy teases us with AA level skill, and it comes around like Haley's comet (at least, the offensive half).

Gotta give him credit - he makes fun of the left plenty.

My favorite people tend to be those who have reasonably strong, but thoughtful opinions (on either side) who are entirely willing to skewer their own party. Find enough of those people, and you can even have a political discussion without people name calling and sounding like middle-school girls. It's rare, but it's a treat when it happens.

You are so right.

I was in Atlanta for that Duke game.

Sat with Ron Mercer, DA, and Dale Brown - these guys were big on Alex that night.
