Religious kooks who still can't deal with adults drinking alcohol or going to a sex shop aren't going to be down with people lawful smoking the devil's lettuce.
Bourbon lobby is powerful and pot would be a competitor on the intoxicants market.
Law enforcement will bitch because they'll lose the budget money they piss away locking up adults for possessing a plant.
The political climate in Kentucky might not ever be right for recreational. Alaska is the only red state to legalize recreational, although several have legalized medical. I think that's the best we can hope for in Kentucky, which could work for me because I've had terrible migraines since I was a kid.

About 12 years ago I went on a camping trip with a few buddies out to the Grand Canyon. We drove there and of course brought an ounce with us. After a week, we headed back home and had a small amount left. We were driving through Arkansas when we got pulled over. The cop noticed we were from ky and my buddy who was driving where we were coming from and he told him. He asked him to come back to his cruiser give him a warning for speeding and we would be on our way. We breathed a sigh of relief for a min.....
Ten mins later he comes walking back to the car with the cop and says give me the weed guys, we all turned white. He gives our deer antler pipe we bought from an Indian shop and the small amount we had left. There were 4 of us and we were all pissed wondering why he told the cop.
The cop escorted myself and my friends to the back of his cop car and stuff 4 guys into the back of his small cruiser while the Calvary arrived to search the SUV. While sitting in the cop car free bird was on the radio and we started asking the question; why?
He said the cop asked him if we had anything on us, at first he said no. Then the cop asked mind if I check? Of course he said why? The cop followed up with a deal. Tell me what you have on you, I'll write you guys citations, pay them and this will never be on your record and never heard of again, he took the deal.
I understood why he did it, and I didn't blame him. We get to the police station where they are bringing others like us in. He writes us the citations keeps the weed and the pipe. The amount of the ticket was almost 900 bucks. So by this time we're all mad, broke and tired, but it was about to get worse.....
The cop then says to us, that's per person. Our lives were over. We had to call everyone we knew trying to come up with almost 4K or we would be booked and then it would go on our record. We got down to our last hope which was my buddies sister. She wired almost 4K to them to keep us out of jail. Then took us to the shop where they towed it and we had to pay 200 bucks more.
After that debacle, we used our last few bucks got Wendy's and made it home. My buddy ironically, was wearing a skynrd shirt and he took it off and threw it in the parking lot since he felt it was a bad omen It still pisses me off we were basically blackmailed for almost 4K and a clean record. Arkansas can kiss my ass.

That sucks, but from someone with a not clean record it isn't that bad of a deal
Damn, sorry to hear. Totally sucks. As MegaBlue05 states, it's all about revenue.
I'm gonna be pissed if Sessions manages to crack down on legal weed and it interrupts the flow of good stuff from Michigan, Colorado, California, Oregon, etc. into Kentucky. Never before gotten the consistent quality I have in the past couple years. And it's been years since we've had any city-wide shortages.
Never trust a cop. Cops can and do lie, to get you to incriminate yourself. Obviously you know that now...
I took a hit on my first joint in 1973 and never looked backed. I have never been a drinker or a harder drug user. Good weed is all I need. To all of those who think it is gateway to harder drugs,well you all can kiss the left side of my a**. To those of you who don't want it be legal because it will lead to a life of destruction, well I have the right side of my a** that you folks can kiss. The state of KY cries all day long about lack of revenue the state is not bringing in..I have some words for them..legalize weed and bring in casinos. It may not fix the problem, but sure as hell will go a long way in fixing the financial woes of this backwards state.. I live in Louisville and all hear/read about is bourbon this and bourbon that..sick of all of that..In 20 yrs this state will probably have the highest rate per population of alcoholics and DUI's in the nation..

As i've gotten older it sort of lost its appeal. I don't consume it very much anymore, but its nice to have that option, without ANY hassle.

At 31, if it ain't dro it's a no go. Just lost total interest if it's not quality bud. I guess the tolerance finally topped out.
I remember when I was in high school (01-04) mid was all I smoked. It was called "cali bud" and went for 35 a quarter. light green and orange, popcorn type buds. Today they just call it dro and sell it at 100 a Q. States like mine the whole system is screwed. Tennessee will probably never fully legalize.
13 Marijuana farms have been totally destroyed in California wildfires. Talk about up in smoke.

I used to love weed and from my experiences concentrates don't last longer at all it's a more potent quicker feel whereas bud is a more mellow longer feel. Anyshway had a few years probation so I didn't smoke any weed for a long time. Even though I had no desire to smoke again I tried once off probation, gave me the worst anxiety of my life, have tried a few times since. Same story every time terrible anxiety and forcing myself to sleep. Not against it in any way though just not enjoyable anymore for me.
Good stuff these days. As in the best of the best shipped in from out of state. Go for 200 max, 150 if you're well connected and buying bulk. It's a new day and age as far as prices go. And if you're buying bulk the number will go closer to 100-150. Crazy to think how much cheaper it is these days compared to a couple years ago.
I used to work with two guys who failed a drug test for pot. One guy wound up retiring because he didn't want to put up with the bullshit of being on what is known as "Final Warning". After being there for 38 years, never a bad performance review, being one of the best line operators I've ever worked with, a guy who always showed up on time, didn't lay out, got along well with everyone, and if another extrusion operator needed help, he'd be the first one to show up and I guess he was just pissed off over the way he was treated.
The other guy was pretty much in the same boat. A guy who did a good job, was dependable, got along with everyone, but he elected to stay and go through their "punishment". About 6 months later, they shut down the process he was working on, and instead of placing him somewhere else like they usually do in that case, they let him go. Like the first guy, he had enough time in to retire with full benefits, but it was still tough to see him go.
A couple of years after the first guy retired, we needed some help, and we are able to call retirees to work part time. I immediately called our HR rep and told him about the first guy. I told him how great he was, but that he had failed a drug test. He told me that I couldn't bring him back because he was on "Final Warning". He said he hated that policy, but he couldn't do anything about it.
So, you basically shitcan two very good employees who never let recreational pot use interfere with their jobs, but over the years I've seen them put up with guys who had obvious drinking problems that affected their attendance, how they got along with people and the quality of work they did. Hell, I had one supervisor years ago who routinely let one guy basically just "float" around and file paperwork and put out supplies because he was too drunk to put on a production line.
There will be a day that pot will be legal nationwide, but I'll probably never live to see it.
