Marcus Paige out 4 weeks

That sucks. I was hoping UNC would stay #1 all the way into March before losing to Kentucky in the Final Four.

I hope he miraculously heals a month before Draft Day, kills it in the combine and workouts, and drafts where he would have all along. Until then, I hope his hand looks like JPP's.

Feel bad for the kid. Hope he heals in time to pursue his professional dreams unabated.

If the Hindus and Buddhists are right, this is the beginning of a Karma Shiz-Storm that will continue until somebody at UNC-CHeats has the morality to accept responsibility for the grotesque and disgraceful cheating scandal.

so you want uncheat to make the F4??? not me

Not particularly, especially since we're one Final Four away from catching their cheating asses. But I'm also not going to sound like a blind homer and pretend that they're not talented, because they are. If we met them in March, it would probably be in the Final Four. If we met them before that point, it likely meant that either UK or UNC struggled more than expected, and I don't see that happening.

Or we could just beat them with him at 100%. That would be fine with me!

If the season ends with UK on top, I don't care what percentage of any team was fully ready to go. Teams that won it over the last few years certainly didn't question whether they could have done so if Cauley-Stein, Alex Poythress, Joel Embiid, Kendall Marshall, Enes Kanter and others had been healthy and eligible.

Hate it for Paige. He seems like a good kid from all I've seen, heard and read.

But I have no sympathy for UNC***. If they want sympathy, they can can look in the dictionary between sh*t and syphilis.

Love me some eastern philosophy, but I prefer "Do not be deceived, for God is not mocked. Whatever one sows, that he will also reap."

Also, "They sow the wind, and they reap the whirlwind."

UNC is reaping their own whirlwind right now, and I'd imagine the true results on this side of eternity will be rather microscopic compared to the results on the other.

Why is he still at UNC? I thought he would have declared last year.

Hate that for him. Seems like a good kid and is fun to watch. Damn good player too... Don't hate it for UNC as a program, but I do for the player.

Unfortunately, from a season long perspective this might benefit them. In the past as Marcus goes so does the team. They could stand to develop some more reliable scorers in his absence.

Hate it for Marcus, he seems like a great kid and he stayed 4 years. That said, when will UNC learn how much of a bitch karma is?

Roy took him to lunch, bought him a co' coler and cried over some cheesy fries.
He got an "A" in nutrition class for attending lunch. The NCAA said there was no violation for Roy buying lunch since it was for academic purposes.

because he's a tweener at the pro level and his draft stock was in question after last season. Can get a chance at a national championship this year before he goes maybe mid-late 2nd round and struggles to make an NBA roster

If he's a tweener it's because Roy Williams turned him into one. He was no more a tweener coming out of HS as a McD AA than Brandon Knight, who left and became a multi-millionaire after his freshman year after beating UNC and taking the Cats to the Final Four. Roy didn't develop Paige as a guy who could play at the next level as a PG. He'll never make it in the NBA as a jump shooter.

By the way, I see Marcus Paige is an "academic all-America." No offense to the kid, who I'm sure is a good kid. But what does that mean at a school where Rashad McCants made the Dean's List and got all A's without -- by his own admission -- doing any work whatsoever? How can you name someone from North Carolina an "academic all-America?"

Uh, this is a bad comparison. BK was top 5 prospect coming out of high school, MP was in the 30s.

Paige was a first team Parade All-America, as well as a McDonald's All-America. ESPN had him ranked 22nd and no. 1 as a point guard. One thing is for sure, Roy using him as primarily a shooter is not helping his NBA rankings.

By the way, speaking of rankings, Bobby, when Rashad McCants was on the Dean's List and an All A's student, did UNC nominate him as an "Academic All America?" Or did his comments that he considered school to be prison hurt his case? I think his revelation that he never did any work or went to any classes came later, so that wouldn't have hurt him.

The sad thing is Paige might have earned his status as academic all America, but your school has such a disgraceful record that it has never accepted responsibility for, in the form of imposing punishments, that it makes any athlete from UNC getting named a joke. This is one of the reasons that not accepting any consequences for the scandal is so cowardly.

[laughing] You're really asking that of The Richard?[laughing]
