Marcus Lee FG%

I mean, the vast majority of the top 20 are probably guys who looked to dunk/layup before anything else.

Doesn't matter.

He is the only player on that list that has never made a FG more than 3 feet from the basket.

Absolutely amazing, not one.

Even this guy hit a couple of 10 footers.

Give me a break . If you have the #'s you have them . Makes no difference how you got them . That is amazing for Lee . If he overlooked since he is limited offensively but he is consistent and solid and will play in the NBA . He always gets you 8-12 pts and 6-12 rebounds and always plays balls to the wall.

Always? Really? Come on man. Always lol? Those are his stats on his best days. In the last 20 games he has hit double digit points three times and double digit rebounds four times.

I like the rebound spread though...6-12 lol. I'm going out on a limb and say Isaac gets us 2-15 points and 3-12 rebounds every game for us. Kid will be a solid NBA contributor lol.

A while back I posted the numbers showing UK's most consistent and least consistent players.

Link to Post about Alex Poythress & Consistency

Marcus Lee didn't make the list because he didn't score enough points to hit the cut-off.

But looking at his numbers, his consistency has improved each year he's been at UK but it's still not great (lower ratio of S.D. to ppg is more consistent, higher ratio is less consistent):

Freshman Year: 2.36 ppg, 4.02 s.d. [170% (S.D./ppg)]
Sophomore Year: 2.62 ppg, 2.52 s.d. [96.2% (S.D./ppg)]
Junior Year: 6.84 ppg, 4.14 s.d. [60.5% (S.D./ppg)]

Compared to other current players Lee is behind Murray (31.2%), Ulis (34.6%), Briscoe (44.4%) & Poythress (55.1%) in terms of scoring consistency game-to-game.

He is ahead of Willis (71.9%), Humphries (87.2%), Labissiere (91.6%), Matthews (139.6%) & Hawkins (157.5%) of players who play significant minutes.

best FG% in UK history, worst FT% in UK history.

Figures.

Pretty amazing if this happens.

Looking at UK's leaders in Career FG% there's a few who weren't very good FT shooters, but none as bad as Lee.

Player FG% FT%
Marcus Lee 65.88% 37.37%
Michael Bradley 65.85% 46.9%
Anthony Davis 62.31% 70.94%
Rodney Dent 60.83% 54.05%
Marquis Estill 60.23% 64.26%
Willie Cauley-Stein 59.35% 50.84%
Charles Hurt 59.3% 65.45%
Melvin Turpin 59.11% 69.65%
Nerlens Noel 59.04% 52.88%
Patrick Patterson 58.59% 73.38%
Rick Robey 58.12% 72.31%
Shagari Alleyne 58.06% 65.22%
Randolph Morris 57.76% 66.13%

He will not play in the NBA. He will make a living playing basketball for awhile, but not in the league.

You need the break.

A break from your eternal optimism that every UK player is a Greek God who will be a 1st team AA and lottery pick.

A player that hasn't even attempted a shot other than a layup, dunk or baby hook inside the ark for 3 YEARS!! should be disqualified from any FG% record.

Doesnt matter how you get it as long as you have it. All Shaq did was dunk on people....should his field goal % be disqualified? Not even close to saying Lee is Shaq, but Shaq made his career 5 ft and in.

I remember we'd have games where Randolph Morris didn't touch the ball for 10 straight possessions.

We can agree to disagree.

Shaq was a primary scorer, he had to work hard for those baskets.

Lee is a dump off, lob, garbage guy.

Shaq made more initiating attempts at the basket per game than Lee does per season.

Marcus might try to back someone down once per game.

Not even close, imo.

I'm a bit disappointed that Lee has not improved his shooting from the FT and never taken a face up shot in 3 years of D1 high level ball.

Eh, the first 3-4 years with the Magic, yes. But he eventually developed a little fadeaway, a hook, and a spin move. He just missed another free throw, though.

The number of double teams Shaq drew versus the number of double teams that Lee draws should tell you that this is not a valid comparison.

Only five of those guys has played significant minutes in the NBA. If Lee makes it to the league he better have one of the top assist men on his team cause nobody else will give the ball up

Except for a hand full of positive posts it appears that most would not like to see Marcus to play another minute at UK. Maybe the audience is a little too tough.

Briscoe is shooting where Andre Riddick did. My goodness.

He has. Made one too. Baseline jumper from the right side, 10 to 12 footer.

Please refresh our memory, I honestly do not remember him even attempting one.

There is not one photo online of him in a UK uniform attempting one.

He is a fantastic kid, he hustles and seems to enjoy playing.

@shutzhund I hope he returns and has a great season, nothing personal, you cant help but to love the kid, terrible hands and all.
