Looks like Giles may have suffered another ACL injury

Went to the Duke hospital for the injury. If you needed any other sign to tell you he is Duke bound then that would be it.

Or because he lives in NC and I imagine that's the best hospital around (idk if that's true, but I've always heard great things about both their med school and hospital). It's not like he's gonna go to the UK hospital

Definitely takes the shine away from the kids game. I'm not as concerned about the Giles/Tatum combo now. Two knee surgeries before college, that'll mess u up mentally.

They're so many ACL injuries now, back in the 80's and part of the 90's very seldom you heard about an ACL injury. I really think it's where these kid's are playing so much basketball with these AAU teams their body don't get enough time to rest and heal up.

Could be that but I think it's more the shoe technology these days. Unlike shoes many years ago, todays shoes grip to where you can cut on a dime. No give in case your leg/knee is going the wrong way. Much like in football when they were going from natural grass to astro turf years ago.

Overuse and specializing at a very young age. People tend to forget how much playing multiple sports can help athletes. Can help strengthen parts of the body that may not get used as much in some sports, also can improve skills and athleticism. Don't think a basketball player's footwork would be better if they did stuff like soccer and ballet, for example?

Don't care where he goes, just hope the kid gets himself to 100% recovery as quickly as possible so we can see him play in college and so he can show NBA scouts he is OK. Wish the best for the young man no matter his college decision, health comes first though.

This sucks for the kid. Would this be his second acl injury? Knowing that you have so much potential and money in the future on the line and something like this happens would just destroy a person. Let's hope he gets to 100%, even if he decides to play for Duke. At this point, i think it's a lock he's Duke bound. We will move on and go with a guy maybe not as good, but pretty talented as well. I'm not sweating it too much.

It's on the other knee too. Can view that two ways. One, it's good it's the other. Two, he's a ticking time bomb and will affect his contract.

He tore his ACL and MCL in his other knee.

I'd still be overwhelmingly excited to take him at UK.

ACLs rarely (for those of you wanting to post some random picture of one or two athletes that it's happened to) tear in the same place. The notion of the ticking time bomb doesn't make much sense when compared to actual cases of these incidents. You're looking at about a 2 to 2.5% shot for it to happen again in the same place, based on Dr. Brian Cole's data (see link below). Another doctor said he's only seen tears in the same ACL in 5 of about 2,500 cases. That said, Giles should be good to go.

Truly bad luck for the kid. Going forward, lots to be concerned about for any NBA team should he get to that position.

It would be fantastic if he ripped off a hospital gown to show the jersey of the team he's committing to tomorrow.
