Little Birdies Are Getting Furious

Senore2006 says:

"Consider who paid for his lodging and meals, maybe for automobile expenses if not more. A professional team did all that.

Had Eric Bledsoe survived on the basis of a professional team picking up his rent, it would be seen as a distinct advantage, being paid "impermissable benefits" in clothing, food and rent. Lord help him if that team had an entertainment allowance. I remember when Utah coach, Rick Majerus was busted for supplying pizza for a gathering of him team in his own home - one time!! He had to sit through a suspension based on that."

I'm not sure what Eric Blessoe has to do with anything, but seriously....is this guy really commenting on an "entertainment budget" right now?! Apparently more than $10,000 in "entertainment" over the course of 4 years is no biggie though....

People in glass houses Senore.....

But, to address the point, as one of their level-headed posters says, if it wasn't UK they wouldn't care. College players can play for national teams and that isn't considered a problem, even though they are playing with professionals for no pay. And since there aren't AAU circuits, it's one way for players to develop their skills outside of high school.

It sounds like Wynyard and his family were very diligent in doing what they needed to retain his amateur status--they shouldn't be punished for that.

It all boils down to jealousy. They simply cannot handle the fact that they will always play second fiddle to UK.

If Louisville gets their title stripped, shouldn't it go to Michigan, since Michigan got screwed over by the refs in that game?

I really didn't see anything on the UL board that's unlike what I read here. There are some knowledgeable fans that really understand how the NCAA determines eligibility in this case. There are others who embarrass themselves by their own ignorance. Those who speak the most an the loudest usually know the least about the subject. IMHO

I like the guy that threw in something about us paying our players under the table, lol.

This. I really hope the folks on their message boards are an exception and aren't typical of their fans IRL, because their online presence is borderline absurd. xD

They can't wrap their head around the fact that they have the dirty program , not us.

What was the fax machine incident mentiined?

What was the fax machine incident?

Oh jeez. New to being a Cat fan, I assume? It was related to Tubby miraculously finding a fax from Randolph Morris where he declared his intentions of preserving his college eligibility. He found this fax in his desk months into the process of determining whether or not Morris should be eligible.

I think even most of us UK fans admit that one was a little fishy.

I loved the guy wishing for a tell all book from Sandy Bell , I bet they still haven't colored all the pages in the "Breaking Cardinal Rules " book yet. Or read them fo that matter.

They're hopeless. What they need is someone LIKE Sandy Bell...then maybe they wouldn't be in a mess like the one they're in.

i get the outrage. we just added a big man that is far better than any big they have on their roster. #AlsoWhores

WHAT? How dare you question the integrity of that man...he was a pillar of society...(wink, wink)
Most fans did think it too be fishy, but almost all of the UL fans I hear are in full blown defend and deflect mode.

They are such comic relief, but when you really think about it, they are pitiful. They keep obsessing over UK and what they believe is cheating on our part, when they have the sleaziest college program in the country. Some kid who is not being paid, to play on a developmental contract, and they think it is cheating, while they pay for prostitutes to lure recruits to UL, and they think that it is just boys being boys. It truly is sad.

Yep. And he flits around the interwebs on other teams' sites anytime uavel or UK is mentioned. He proudly carries the banner of lil bro defending them at every turn and proclaiming their greatness. He was bragging on the UNC*** boards about why uavel is the most profitable Cbb program, of course never once mentioning the criminal Yum deal. Conversely, he uses his powers of prose to denigrate UK at every opportunity, ironically talking mostly about how much UK "cheats".

I *think* he thinks he is cool and well-received. In fact, he comes off as a pathetic lackey and a clown. More of a "look at me, I matter and uavel is great" dork than someone to be taken seriously.

I almost feel sorry for the little fella. Almost.

I love the U of L fans that jump on the news that the youngest daughter was arrested for prostitution without realizing that it is bad news for their program. Drew Deener even called them out this morning and Eric Crawford agreed.

I don't understand how their mind works, but it almost seems like they're saying this discredits the story since it's not related to the Minardi Hall gatherings.

Have you seen the little birdies
Crawling in the dirt?
And for all the little birdies
Life is getting worse
Always having dirt to play around in

Have you seen the bigger birdies
In their starched white shirts?
You will find the bigger birdies
Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to play around in

In their nests with all their backing
They don't care what goes on around
In their eyes there's something lacking
What they need's a damn good whacking

Everywhere there's lots of birdies
Living birdy lives
You can see them out for dinner
With their birdy wives
Clutching forks and knives to eat their chicken

As a North Carolina fan I live in frustration at the cheating Kensucky gets away with. UNC helps a few struggling students achieve their academic dreams by guiding them through a degree on their cultural heritage, and maybe a corner or two is cut, and that becomes an NCAA investigation. Louisville shows a few recruits a good time, and introduces them to some young ladies and that is frowned upon. But Kensucky can do anything they want!

"So in otherwords, if the pro team doesn't pay him, he's still an amateur in the NCAA's eyes.
Whatever.
Crock of ish if you ask me."

Hey, can we start a fund to send some educational material over there, like they do for poor orphaned kids in Somalia?

Maybe with a dictionary or two, some of these poor disadvantaged fans will be able to learn the definition of big words like "amateur".

Is that real? Did a UNC fan really type that out?? If so...

i'd like to post this over there for the poor birdbrain but alas i'm banned.

The saddest thing is to watch the inevitable one poster who comes in and levelheadedly explains things to the other howling morons, only to be completely ignored.

The fact that they would whine this loudly over a non-existent issue regarding a Top 60 player is so Louisville it hurts.

Oh yeah, I saw that too. Wow! How about the blinders on this guy?! Ha! The ability to justify blatant cheating on one hand while condemning something that is clearly within the rules on the other is laughable- almost to the point of crying. Seriously, I know we're all fans who are able to see the good in our favorite program and able to justify things, but I would hope that, if I saw the clear evidence that has been seen at both UNC and Louisville regarding their respective scandals, I would be able to speak the truth about it. I think I'd likely just stop posting on message boards altogether, since I just wouldn't be able to condone it and I wouldn't want to constantly be negative about it. But these folks are something, eh? No conscience, apparently. Head in the sand, blinders on, drinking the kool-aid, pick your metaphor.

You know what I haven't seen one time since this scandal broke? That picture of the white woman and the black man dancing around a pole in the parking lot wearing U of L stuff.

what is so funny about this is that ul's had a few guys play for pro teams themselves. they argued that they were amateurs cause they only practiced with the team and didn't earn any money outside of living expenses. i think they lost one to eligibity issues but im pretty sure they had 2 more play.
