Lexington getting a Publix

Not nearly as good as Kroger. I'm originally from NKY but now live 6 months in Florida and 6 months in WNC. In WNC we have Ingles. In Florida we have Publix. I think both Ingles and Kroger are better than Publix. I miss having a nice Kroger superstore
Man I live down here in FL as well and I gotta say I love me some Publix. Personally, I think they are on par, if not better, than Kroger. Course, it’s been prolly close to 10 years since I have been in a Kroger I think. Could def be recency bias.

We have Publix everywhere down here in Georgia, and we avoid them like the plague. Same quality as Kroger, but more expensive. We drive ten miles past Publix to shop at Kroger.
Publix is the supermarket where my mom lives in Florida. We’re always a bit shocked how expensive they are compared to Kroger back home in Kentucky, but assumed it was more a function of location (affluent area on the Gulf)

We’re a few minutes from Savannah. There are several Publix and several Kroger within 30 or so minutes of us. All the Publix have higher prices.

Kroger has home delivery in Florida!

Im originally from NKY as well and always liked Kroger. It’s great for getting Goetta while living away from home. Other than that, the Kroger here is absolute garbage and I avoid it like the plague. Can’t wait for the Publix just to have another option.

Where in Eastwood? Is it going on the corner of Flat Rock & US60 where the old Boone Gardiner nursery used to be?
Thats exactly right. The lot was purchased last year, but development is being held up. They will also be breaking that land up into 4 lots, so there will be 3 other available lots for commercial development after Publix goes in.

In Florida, we get most of our staples at Aldi, and shop Publix for the weekly BOGO items and deli. I wish we had Ingles down here. There's one back in East TN that's been there going on 30 years and it's the cleanest grocery store I've ever been in. You know how after a store gets some age on it, it gets that "smell"? This place is just as nice as it was when it opened. They have wide aisles and a great selection too.

-we're a Kroger for staples family. Whole foods/fresh market/trader Joe's for random stuff.

Publix is just like Kroger, but more expensive. I am near Nashville, TN and we avoid it at all costs unless in desperate/lazy times lol. It is the closest store to our house (5 minutes) vs. 10 for Kroger or 15-20 to Walmart.

We go to the one in Johnson city once in awhile.

Publix is terrific. Deli, bakery, etc. Is it more expensive than discount chains like Aldi and Winn-Dixie (to the extent they still exist)? Yes, but also much nicer.

Publix is fine. The Lex Krogers have gone downhill the last few years...selection, especially, and the stores are definitely not as clean as Meijer. It will be good to have another option.

When Publix moved to the Triangle people got excited. They're ok, but not all that. Now Wegmans has moved here too, and people love those even more. Huge selection in many areas of Wegmans, and you can find some deals, but many things are more there.

Publix is great for the deli and bakery as many have stated. Publix subs from the deli are very very good. Bakery items far better than Kroger or Walmart. Be nice to have it for certain things.

My little brother has worked for Publix since 1998. He started as a bag boy and now works for corporate in Lakeland. Couple years ago, he outlined Publix expansion strategy for KY and TN. Expect more stores over the coming years.

Kroger seems less expensive in my opinion, but Publix deli and bakery produce higher quality products. Publix really capitalizes on attention to detail and freshness. For example, all their deli/bakery items are usually made in-house at each store.

Having said that, I prefer Kroger and look forward to shopping there again in the very near future.

The main thing I look for in a grocery store is the meat department. Wal*Mart meat is decent. Kroger is better. We’ll see where Publix lands. Obviously a place like Critchfield’$ is better than all, but $omething keep$ me from $hopping there too often.

Louisville also getting a Hy-Vee (Midwestern Grocery Chain)

Hadnt been in a Publix in a few years before going to Florida last month. Was shocked to see how much higher they were than Kroger.

Good thing theyre building those Publix where the money is here in Louisville....they'll need it to shop there.

I don’t know, man...”Publix Field at CWS” kinda has a nice ring to it. Class up the joint a little bit.
Believe it or not, Detroit Tigers play spring training games on Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, FL. City of Lakeland signed a 100-year agreement with MLB and Tigers organization. Publix is a bunch of tightwads, as their stadium naming rights only run 20 years.

It’ll be nice for all the Palomar and (to a lesser extent, now) Harrods Hill people to not have to slum it at the Wal*Mart grocery store.
Don’t hate on the Walmart market in Palomar. If I have to pick something up and am going anywhere in the area, that’s where I’m getting it. It has everything and keeps me out of a humongous Kroger or even worse, a regular Walmart. Besides, all the clientele there look like they have the same mentality as me - Get in, GTFO. Also, the Qdoba beside it is excellent - always clean and they get everything right.
