Laster transferring

I saw this coming from a mile away. He was going to get passed by a freshman anyway. Good luck to him at his future school.
Yea, I hate it cause he seems like a good kid and he did whatever they asked but.... he was looking at 3rd on the depth chart at 2 different positions that had a lot of comp for 2 and 3. Bannerman is liked by the staff and has 4 years. Bonner seems similar with 2 years left and is maybe quicker. Even if they are equal the youth wins out.

These kids watch practice. They know if there better than the field. I think part of the reason Badet transferred is other talented wr.

He was a curious recruit when we took him. Just didn't seem very accomplished vs. where we're trying to head.

There had to be players leaving to accommodate all of the extra signees from this class. I was hoping for it to be more third string players like Laster than starters like Badet and Boom, but oh well. Best of luck to him.

he should consider transferring to Minn.
Badet, the starting WR we utilized constantly last season? C'mon, now. I can see where that could be the case for Laster, but not Badet.
Yes Badet the wr that didn't get near as much run towards the end of the year. Juice was the go to guy in the Louisville game. I'm not saying Badet wasn't talented but writing was on the wall that other players where coming on and he would have to share snaps. If Badet was confident he was gonna be the number 1 wr next year then why the hell would he transfer?

Because, God bless him, Stephen Johnson is good for one bomb a game and that's about it. If you're a receiver looking to get drafted, it makes sense to find a more pass happy offense.

Some of that is on the wr dropping several passes. Johnson threw for 330 against Louisville and Badet had how many of that? If your gonna get drafted UK as good a place as any. We will see if Badet has as much success as UK leading at this next year.

I remember 30 yards. 30 unbelievably important yards that changed the game from "play for OT" to let's win. Best, most important play of the final drive.
Not picking a fight. But honestly that was about my favorite play of the game. 30 yard rope the he went up for and got.

According to this article, we are now only one over our 85 scholarship limit.

Wow! It would be tough picking 3 off of that list to lower our scholarships to 85! GO CATS!!

I can think of a few from that list RV posted above that could be candidates to transfer, but I don't want to speculate publicly on how it might go down. For one thing, it likely would expose my ignorance on such matters, but more importantly, such speculation of specific players is unfair to them.

However, you're right - a lot of the dead wood has already been gotten rid of.

Mosier and Charles Walker are former walk-ons awarded scholarships. So, we are either plus 3 or 1 if you count them or not.

why would they not be counted? Mosier is a starter and Walker a starter on the punt return team and primary backup at receiver. No way these guys lose their schollies.

I don't disagree with you on the basis of merit, but scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis and when you have a numbers crunch, walk-ons are the first to lose their scholarship. Is it fair, no, but it's what happens at every school.
Having said that, I have no problem finding 5-6 other players that IMO needs a very good spring camp or they might be talked into transferring.

I can never recall a walk on at UK that was awarded a scholarship and then had it taken back. Don't know about other schools. I think it's fair to say if either one of these guys had their ticket snatched away after what they have contributed they would have a player rebellion on their hands. I can see at least 20 guys on this roaster besides freshmen that should lose their ride before these two.

Great play but he wasn't targeted as much that game is my point. I never said he wasn't talented. If he thought he was going to be the guy he would still be here.

If Nico Firios or Kei Beckham or Blake Bone decided to transfer, would people be shocked? I think Bone can have a good year, but could also see him passed by again. I think Firios is great on ST, but could see where he might not think he is going to get on the field much at LBer. I though Beckham had some good moments last year, but with the last three classes at DB, he may not think he is going to beat some of those guys out.

I have to believe that no one's scholarship will be snatched away. I also have to believe we will be at or under the 85 by the time school begins due to more attrition for a variety of reasons. There are those that I would choose as probable candidates but speculation is reckless and unhelpful IMO. As many times as not it turns out to be those you didn't expect.

Don't worry as the numbers always work out. We're a long ways away from the beginning of the fall semester.

No way. His drops were frustrating but he was our top receiver. Badet transferred for other reasons.

Yea he did not believe he would be showcased here. I guess what that means is debatable.

Now that I can believe, but it wasn't because of new guys if our best receiver transferred because of new guys EVERY receiver on the team should leave.

I never said strictly just new guys. Guys like Bone Richardson Greenwood where pushing for spots last year. Badet knows who was behind him. Plus we do not know what coaches told him.

True, and I suspect Bowden will play as a true freshman, I think it will mostly be in the wildcat, special teams. We don't know what coaches said its true, I just doubt it was to make room, or really anything to do with his abilities other than like you said, he wanted the ball more. It's kinda not fair, not taking anything away from him but, he had a fair share land right in his bread basket and he dropped the ball pun intended.

Badet would have started had he stayed. His desire to showcase himself is human, but would not be desirable if I was a recruiting coach.

Badet Is very fast but he had issues wanting to go over the middle. If you want to be a top draft pick at his size you better run the whole route tree.
