Lack of size

Kansas game could get ugly, friends. Let’s be honest with ourselves - not having any of the three 7’ NBA prospects in uniform against the #1 team is going to be a major issue.
do you think HD can keep up the pace we are playing at
i would say that he would get into foul trouble, except that would require him to guard someone

No big deal we have lost 5 of last 6 in Champions Classic so what is big deal losing 6 of 7. Cal believes it is a learning experience for the young men.
It would be nice to win one of these, but ultimately they usually don't mean much. Hell, Duke demolished us in that game with Zion and ended up in the exact same spot we did.

I know it has been such a downer to lose this game early in the year.

It's very frustrating that for the 3rd year in a row, all of our injuries are happening to one specific position.

This year, it's all of our bigs.
Last year it was Wheeler and Cason, our main point guards and facilitators.
The year before, it was our SGs play with TyTy and Grady going down.

Injuries is one thing, but it's a completely bigger issue when they are concentrated to one position or skill set. Kentucky is now 3 years in a row of having one facet of the basketball game being completely decimated, and we're going to lose games directly, and specifically, because of it.

Good news is Bradshaw is jumping and shooting. Z will recover from his illness and should soon be cleared. We should have two, our primary and a backup in Z.

Normally I'd say it is for lack of getting players.......whelp. That's not the issue this time.

So, I can't speciffically blame Cal for three dudes at one position being down and out in someway, shape or form
Three years in a row? No, of course not. It's NEVER Cal's fault.

Did I say that? Come on. Cal deserves a lot of crap for a LOT of things. But at least be fair. This time it really isn't.

Bradshaw got hurt after committing here. That's not Cal's fault.
Ugo got hurt in a damn practice. That's not Cal's fault. Now it would be if that was our only options.....
BUT we have Z who is waiting on clearance. That is slightly Cal's fault but more on UK for taking so damn long to get him enrolled.

Weird. Do we blame Self for having bad health as to why he couldn't finish coaching last year and thus was the "reason" (lol) that they lost early?

How come he gets a pass?

Sometimes injuries happen.

The point is they think Cal is lying about all three, which is ridiculous. Now, he could be lying about one of them for sure....it is Cal. But all three? Nah.

This team can't hit the open shoots. No good post. It's going to be a long year.

Um, actually, they’ve started out pretty good at hitting their shoots <sic>.

In the two exhibition games, and last night, they shot 48.6, 56.1 and 49.2% from the field. Not bad! Consider that last season only 2 Division One programs shot over 50% for the season.

The whole premise is silly. This comes from a lot of posters who don't realize that sports injuries are often left vague and timelines murky. It's on other college teams, it's in the pros, it's in other sports. Guarantee you there's a plethora of vague injuries in pro sports right now.

That was more aimed at the guy who think Cal is purposely sabotaging his entire front court for some weird gain, anyways.

We did have an awful first half though. Shot 39%. Luckily, our defense kept NMST at like 26% or something like that.

I'm excited as well, but I fully expect us to have one night where we forget what a basketball is and can't find any body of water.

I think it's a blessing in disguise. I wouldn't ask for it. But, I think we'll benefit from it in the long run.

Why?

Calipari is being forced to go small, which has made us play 5 out. I think/hope he'll see the results of this, and keep this offense all year. We have spacing. We're getting open shots.

If we had 2 healthy 7 footers to start the season, I have no doubt Cal would want to experiment with putting them both IN THE PAINT at the same time.

Now he's going to be forced to see the light.

I think our guards and wings are too good, if for nothing else, they are the type of talents he seems to make promises for.

Where as the last few years.. our guards just weren't great, and often times, injured for large stretches. I don't think Cal PREFER to play a bunch of bigs.. but that lack of elite recruiting the last few years left our guard play lacking.

hard to tell, cal is a man of mystery. It nice to see him talking. You get an idea if he believes the crap that comes out out or not. I think he cared more about pissing mj off than winning bball games

I will say this: When one of the bigs is ready to come back and start, Thiero, not Mitchell, needs to start at PF. He is by far the most active player on both ends of the court.

Active but out of control on offense. I like his aggressiveness but he is only thinking drive. Mitchell provides experience and facilitates the offense.

Out of control? Took it to the rack and got fouled on all but one? Thiero was on pace for a double-double, then went off with a chest injury. Mitchell facilitates the offense? What in the world are you on about? A dude having five assists (mainly by swinging the ball) is not the same as “facilitating the offense.”

Rebounding? We don’t need no POY, AA rebounding monster. I read that right here on Rafters.

This is going to be an issue. If we can get them back, expect two bigs on the floor at times to deal with it. They play defense in college ball. They block out. They rebound.

LMAO oh boy! Lulz at #1 team. That ranking means absolutely nothing. I cannot wait for this game! I think some people are gonna be surprised at how well we compete in this game. Matter of fact, I think we win. IF we have the main core of the 8 guys that have been playing the bulk of minutes, healthy. Mainly speaking of Thiero.

People often use “fault” interchangeably. For “responsibility”.

Calipari has taken responsibility for injuries. He has treated them as if the kid’s career depended upon healing properly.
