KY High School Football Playoffs

Boone Co HS never won a title? Thought they won at least once, maybe with Shawn Alexander?
Nope. Owen Hauck barely knew what a pass was. Three in a game was a lot. He was a fine gentleman though. Lost once in the finals. I did sideline stats for BC in the Alexander days. Loved it. He wasn't 17 yet when his senior season ended. It's no wonder AL RSed him.

To note, Shawn's nephew Austin stars for Cooper & is a North Carolina commit.

Only time I pay attention to HS football is the end of the playoffs, and when a local school is in it (from Lex). Got four still alive this year, but Trinity and Beechwood win their divisions nearly every year, so can't see Douglass or LCA winning. Sayre in Class A may have the best chance but possibly Lex Cath can win in 3A.

Results about what I figured last night.

As a PTHS grad (class of 68), I'll be rooting for them. Wasn't sure they could beat Boyle but think they can win it all now.
This PTHS team could beat the Tornado teams of the 1960's by 100 points. I don't believe that anyone from those teams could start on the team today. The biggest player back then was about 6'0" and 190 pounds. Now, the starting linemen are all over 250 pounds. Tilghman largest lineman is about 6'7" and 300 pound, and being recruited by all the big time schools. I can't believe how big kids are today. By the way, the Tilghman quarterback, who holds the all time passing record in Kentucky, is the grandson of a 1968 graduate of PTHS.

The best Paducah Tilghman team ever was the 1973 squad.

This team is better. The 1973 team was the best up to that time, having more size in the line than any previous team, but the talent on this team is unreal. Martels Carter, Jr. and Vanzale Hinton have signed with SEC schools. Jarvis Strickland, junior offensive tackle, is considered the top college prospect in Kentucky in both the junior and senior classes, and is being recruited nationally. Freshman Avery Thompson, QB-WR-DB, was offered by UK in the summer prior to his 8th grade year, something unheard of.

Yes I know. The James brothers grew up just down the street from me.

Tilghman, Owensboro Catholic, and my hometown Union County Braves repping Western Ky in the championship games!!
Bowling Green ? I get it, they are more South Central Ky, but from the western half of the state.

Fun fact, this will be the 3rd time BG has faced Cooper in the state championship game, BG is 2-0. Should be a really good one. IF the BG defense can get some stops, they have a chance. But I think Cooper finally gets revenge. Down year for BG, but still beat St. X and are back in the big game, same as last year, down year, but won it all.
Bowling Green will need huge games from SR. Deuce Bailey, Jr. Trevy Barber and Jr. Jaxen Smith.

Bailey (SR.) - 185 / 279 (66%) / 2978 yards passing / 45 TD's / 8 ints. A lot of games BG was up big so they didn't pass the ball much in the second half of games.

Barber (JR.) - 67 reception / 1189 yards / 22 TD's
Smith (JR.) - 44 receptions / 667 yards / 11 TDs

Not much of a running game.
Jaxen Smith - 56 rushes / 390 yards / 5 TDs
Nick Graham - 67 rushes / 355 yards / 5 TDs
Deuce Bailey - 50 rushes / 338 yards / 2 TDs
