I think this is good move for him and UK. I can see us losing three guards and bringing in two with Fox.

Kobi Simmons' father confirms to ESPN that Simmons is likely to sign in the spring. Five-star point guard.

Without a doubt wants to be here and is waiting for all the smoke to clear to see what the scenario might be.

I have repeatedly said that I really feel bad for this kid....wants to be here sooooooo badly. Literally any other school in the country would have happily taken his commitment already. Consensus top 20 player with no known personal issues like a Tony Wroten or Quincy Miller and overwhelming likely to be a McDonalds All American and his dream school is making him wait. I think Cal is doing the right thing but I just feel so bad for the kid. Normally players of his caliber with no personal or eligibility concerns aren't treated in this manner. Obviously respect him immensely for sucking up his pride and waiting on UK.

He will be a Cat IMO now . WE lose Murray , Ulis , Briscoe and bring in FOx , Monk and Simmons .

I feel like the only way Simmons comes (in a scenario where Monk and Fox also come) is if Mulder proves to be a complete washout.

If Mulder is productive, he is the first wing off the bench next year. Hawkins is the second guard off the bench next year. Both of them will play limited minutes behind Fox, Monk, Matthews - with occasional spurts from Gabriel and Willis at the 3.

Not sure how many minutes would be left if UK ends up with a rotation of:

Fox - Monk - Hawkins
Monk - Matthews - Mulder - Hawkins
Matthews- Gabriel - Mulder
Gabriel - SKJ - Wynyard
Humphries - Allen - SKJ - Wynyard

7 man rotation. Maybe 8.

If he wants to be here so badly, why not just commit during the early signing period? He has a UK offer, if I am not mistaken. I am sure Cal told him to wait so he can see if we get Fox/Monk, but if he really wants to be here that badly, just go ahead and sign and he could essentially put the pressure on UK to make the next move.

Mulder and Matthews are 3's here . Hawkins Fox Monk and Simmons are 4 guards for 2 spots works for me . I mean why else would a huge Cat fan who wants to be a Cat wait it out? If he wanted to be at OSU he would be there now IMO .

UK would not accept his commitment at this time that's why he can't just go ahead and sign. He wants too badly but we may not have a need for him if we land fox and monk.

LOL I am doing no more then anyone else just speculating . If people with opinions bother you that much ... well get a life . Also my batting average went horrible down with Newman and Zimmerman but Murray committing helped it bigtime :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well, you pick every player were linked to, to come here, you are bound to be right eventually.

Fox,Monk,Simmons I can see very easily! That just might be as good as Ullis,Murray, Briscoe.

Gabriel and Willis will also play the 3 at times next year, and when they do, there will be times Cal plays Mulder or Matthews at the 2.

I guess it all comes down to whether Simmons is open to a potential bench role or not. Matthews isn't going to the pine next year without a fight. He is the type of player Cal loves, and I'm not sure if Simmons at the three offers anything better than what Matthews would already provide.

If you can't verbal to the school you want to play for, this would be the only move left that would make sense. Going to college is something no kid should rush so kudos to him for waiting and not going elsewhere out of pride. You can guess, but in recruiting, you really never know what's going to happen. By spring time, it could be us Begging him to come here instead of him pleading for Kentucky. We could all be wrong and the kid is waiting on something else. If he ends up here or elsewhere, I won't be cheering against him. He seems to be a good kid and I do believe he will be better in college than most think, but I do agree with Cal on this one. Fox is the best and is worth waiting for. Even if it means losing out on another talented kid like Simmons

Cal probably texted to Simmons

"Hey did you see Murray...3 PG and dude almost got triple double!"

Simmons texted back

"Okay, i'll wait till spring to decide."

I love the length in this potential group:

6'3" Fox
6'3" Monk
6'5" Simmons
6'9" Gabriel
6'11" SKJ
6'11" Allen
