- Cats are 14-1-29 all-time against the Rebels
- Odd stat here is that this will only be the 12th time Kentucky will play Ole Miss in Oxford, in which the Cats are 2-9.
- The only two wins at Vaught-Hemmingway were in 1949 and 1978.
- Both these programs were regular opponents from 1944-1971 but most of the "road" games were played in Memphis or Jackson. (Not sure as to why, perhaps someone could elaborate).

The only chance UK has is for the D to hold Ole Miss offense down somewhat.
They will look to get ahead quick and put stoops in position of just playing conservative from behind to keep it close or do something we arent good at and get aggressive.

Someone please explain. The Cats played at Ole Miss in 2022. The two teams didn't play each other last season. Why isn't Ole MIss traveling to Lexington? Why is the game at Ole Miss again?
Because the SEC added two teams and scheduling got jiggered a little.
Cant have 8 conference games with 5 at home.
I'm sure we're not the only ones.

Yeah, I would hope at some point in the future Ole Miss will play back to back in Lexington. Of course, Texas A&M has been in the SEC since whenever but has NEVER played in Lexington. But......since UK has lost 9 of its last 11 SEC home games maybe it doesn't matter.

Re the Memphis/Jackson thing, could be that at that time both those stadiums were larger than on-campus stadiums, definitely larger than Stoll Field. Also during that time Ole Miss was an SEC "Have", pretty much got what they wanted.

Maybe somebody here can find the film clip of Larry Seiple running the fake punt for a TD to beat Ole Miss, early 1960s I think.

I don't know why exactly UK played OM at Jackson but UK played Ole Miss in Jackson in 1962 and was a pivotal moment in our country's history. Because of the game being played out of town, the campus was.deserted and allowed Federal marshals to get James Meredith on the campus. When students arrived back and found out he was on campus is when a riot broke out that Sunday that caused hundreds if injuries, two killed but Meredith was enrolled that Monday after the game.

My dad played LB at Ole Miss for Johnny Vaught back in the late 40s and later when I was a kid we used to go to most of the home games in Jackson, MS, and occasionally Memphis. Hemingway Stadium, before Vaught was added to the name, was not in good condition and small during the 60s and 70s, so apparently different administrations thought it easier, and maybe good for recruiting, to play their games in those 2 cities. It was good to see them get back to playing their home games in Oxford. Great tailgating in the Grove.

I'd mentioned facility conditions as a likely reason for playing games in Jackson/Memphis. I attended games at both places and they were much better equipped than UK's tiny Stoll Field. But you're right, recruiting in those cities for Ole Miss was also a factor.

Ole Miss recently played three straight in Lexington - 2011, 2017, then 2020 before a UK return to Oxford happened.

Some memorable games against Ole Miss in the 1960s:

1964: UK goes into Jackson in September and upsets #1 ranked Ole Miss, 27-21. (Rick Norton, Roger Bird, Kestner, Larry Seiple, etc). Ole Miss didn't live up to their pre-season #1 ranking finishing season 5-5-1. UK also disappointed with a 5-5 record.

1965: Larry Seiple's famous 4th and 41 fake punt led to a UK win. He made the inexplicable call himself. Seiple was multi-talented and could play WR, RB, punter, even some QB. Had a long career as a punter with the Dolphins with 2 Super Bowl wins including the only perfect NFL season 1972. UK legend.

1969: Cats beat QB Archie Manning's Rebels at Stoll Field 10-9.

That's really interesting.

So we really were a football school !

1965 and 70 yard td on 4th and 41. Actually extended lead to 2 score lead. Bradshaw would have killed him, if he came up short.

Thatrecord has zero meaning with the Lane Train as coach.

He's done really well there. A 10 win, 8 win and 11 win season the last 3 years. Ole Miss is no secret powerhouse, as they haven't won a conference title or national title in 60 years. Kiffin at least has them in the condo for sec title game appearance and playoff bid.

They have a somewhat manageable schedule but road games at sc, at lsu and at ark will be tough. Then there is the home game against UGA.

We've blown too many of these matchups. Hope we can get over the hump this weekend

Lane Kiffin put this schedule together just for this game.
He gonna try and run up the score on Kentucky. Make us look silly while elevating his program.
Stoops better stop him.

I’m still in disbelief about the USCjr game, but I’m headed down to Oxford with some friends hoping for a miracle. Hopefully Trayanum can make a difference.

Didn't Stoops say the day before Chip was cleared that he's yet to regain strength in his hand? Can't see how that's going to help.
