Even with the refs on their side. Pathetic whistles. Kids are toughening up in the 2nd half.
They didn't do much because of UK's defense. Duke was lucky they got a favorable whistle with their flopping tonight. Skal didn't do much tonight either...won't be that way in March.
UK played better defense, and is more athletic. They toughen up as far as hitting the boards after the half also. All in all GREAT win, even though it is early in the season.
Here's hoping. Regardless, our guys showed tonight ... great win.
Skal is a long way from being what we need him to be. Hump is a huge get for us. But I love Skals ability on the offensive end. Huge upside.
UK is way better than Duke mainly because cal has kids that can handle his ball this year. I'm sorry, I love Andrew and Aaron was super clutch, but they don't light a candle to this guard lineup we have. Murray by March is going to be unguardable

We are going to be really good but we made so many mistakes and left so many opportunities unfinished. That would scare me if I were a Duke fan. They have no identity right now and no point guard.
Duke is going to lose more than I expected, but they're going to be really good. Ingram isn't going to play like that all year. Allen ran into a buzz saw tonight. He won't be playing UK anymore.
This is why I think people are crazy saying Wynward won't get any chance to play this year. Look at tonight...he sure as hell would have got some run with our foul trouble. I was very disappointed with ALL our bigs in foul trouble, but some were BS Duke only calls.
And to be fair to Andrew/ Aaron, there is litle doubt in my mind they would have beat Duke last year in the title game. I agree with your point overall though.
I thought the refs were okay outside the block/charge arc......but inside, it's every man for himself. We didn't get any breaks there.
Grayson Allen would love to forget tonight. He could not do anything right. Refs tried to keep Duke competitive in second half with lots of touch fouls. Without the refs UK would have won by 20+.
Skal will be much stronger and play smarter defensively by March. Poythress is getting closer. Murray didn't even have a great game for him. Very impressed with how easily we disposed of Duke.

Wynyard won't play, because coach cal rather develop players instead of just focusing on putting the guy who can improve the rebound. He needs SKAL to learn to rebound, because Skal will be our starter and highest ceiling.
And against this Duke team they would have went off as well.
Our bigs did some inexcusable things tonight. Skal needs to get tough. Some of those fouls and lost rebounds were just him being soft. Lee played Ok but he did some incredibly stupid things.
Our ability to finish and control the floor is crazy. They act like they've played together for a few years, not a few months. We can absolutely win it all this year.
The Duke guards athleticism compared to Kentucky's is a joke. Duke is going to have a long year. Slow, un-athletic guards. Kentucky dominated transition, points in the paint and their guards literally couldn't stay in front of us. Cats are BUILT for March basketball, while I see this Duke team losing 8 games and headed home in the first round,
Yeah, UK actually played a very sloppy game and had foul trouble issues all night and Duke never could take advantage simply because they don't have a pg.
You do until it's costing you in a game or he's in foul trouble. Duke doesn't have juggernaut bigs and we didn't set the woods on fire.
Yeah, I agree. Cal needs to preach rebounding and physicality in practice in the coming weeks. We have 4 relatively light games coming up before a road trip to UCLA...which should not be an issue but it will be a road game. I know we play USF in Miami, so that is a good tune up before UCLA. I expect the refs to F us bad there on the west coast.
