Although I disagree with the author I think any football program needs to bring in a talented QB every year because UK fans all too well what can take place at QB in just a matter of just 4 quarters of football when Wilson gets hurt then Sawyer gets hurt after an impressive 4 quarters against Eastern Mich and then Florida then gets hurt as well during that game.

You win some you lose some and Kentucky football has certainly been on the winnings side lately with signees, but when the top in-state quarterback Gavin Wimsatt decided to commit to Rutgers Friday it was another whiff at this coveted spot that has become a common occurrence.

But it’s ok the stable of signal-callers is full of talent at the present.

Wimsatt is a 4-star junior quarterback from Owensboro and top-ranked in Kentucky and No. 89 overall in the 2022 class. He had narrowed his choices down to Kentucky, Cincinnati and Rutgers.

With two schools close to home options in Lexington (178 miles) and Cincinnati (205 miles) he ultimately verbally committed to the Scarlet Knights 819 miles away in Piscataway, NJ.

This past year he completed 145 of 235 passes for 2,070 yards and 26 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.
