Serious question, it looks like this could be his last season at Louisville especially if he cannot win at a high level, would the fans welcome KP back at UK if this was to happen?
Why? Obviously he can’t coach
I think one example is Orlando, he left Kentucky and bounced around as a head coach and didn’t succeed. He’s back now but he is a good recruiter and a good assistantKP is an example of a good assistant coach that can't head coach college basketball for whatever reason. There are multiple examples of this through the years. It was a terrible hire, unfortunately. I at least wished him some success. But he's awful.
Name me one cal asst that went on to a successful head coaching career
For sure you take him back. Everyone loves KP.I think you ABSOLUTELY take him, and you show Bruiser Flint the door, in my opinion.
KP w/the UK brand is a proven elite recruiter
He builds relationships with the kids, which is vital
But most importantly, I think he's the guy that can handle Cal, can give him "tough" feedback, etc
He's also a known developer for post players
I agree for the most part, but someone calling him, or any assistant anywhere, a "good coach" doesn't mean they're saying he'd be a great head coach. It could be he's a great coach of concepts, a great coach of post play, a great coach of defensive schemes, etc.I like Payne but I have really no way of knowing how good a coach he is or has been. Some people are just better as assistants because of their personalities or demeanor. Some on here were raving for years about how good a coach he is, everyone always assumes any coach on the staff of a blueblood program is a good coach, but that's not always true. If he is as good as some say, they shouldn't have been so bad last year, if they are not much better this year, you have your answer.
Somehow even louisville sucking is Cals fault…Why? Whats the point in this question
Cal is paid to win games, not develop coaches
Yeah sure why not.
He wouldn't be coming here to be head coach. I think he did a decent job while he was here.
I mean overall I'd kind of be indifferent to it. I feel like coaching staffs tend to get a bit overrated/underrated. They either get too much blame or too much credit IMO.
But if they want him back and he wants to come back, yeah sure why not
That's what you call engine-uity

He didn't really bounce around. He got canned during his 3rd season at USF for having a terrible record and cheating.I think one example is Orlando, he left Kentucky and bounced around as a head coach and didn’t succeed. He’s back now but he is a good recruiter and a good assistant
Cal's tree is pathetic tbh. No coach from his branch is seemingly any good at what they do. Even recruiting. Justus? Awful. KP? Not great. Antigua? Meh and cheated. He didn't really bounce around. He got canned during his 3rd season at USF for having a terrible record and cheating.
For all that Cal has done over the years, his coaching tree is pathetic. Is Bruiser Flint his most successful assistant that became a head coach?
Well look at who their mentor was. Probably worst coaching tree for any Coach in HOF.Name me one cal asst that went on to a successful head coaching career
I agree with this. They do get to much credit or to much blame. And that goes both ways. Win or lose. I would not coach for 10 million a year swear on my life I wouldn't if I had a family. Man social media can ruin some lives because ppl take this shit too far.Yeah sure why not.
