I read today they worked for u of l game tickets. I hear those things dropped drastically in price...

She'll be a walking punchline the rest of her life. She'll provide decades of message board fodder.

One day, years from now, she'll pass away. And someone on this board will create a "memorial" video with photos of her, her daughters, UofL players, etc. with a Celine Dion song playing in the background. It will be epic!

Really? oookay . . . It's possible - highly possible - some of you are simply not reading enough into this. Mr. Riley's tweet does not state the basis for the housing authority's "petition to evict", but it could be because she has generated enough income from the book that she should no longer be depending on the public to provide for housing.

Let me ask you, when people who live in public housing get jobs and / or start producing legitimate income, do you expect them to move out voluntarily, by virtue of their own . . . . virtues?

Sorry, but I don't know anyone who lives in public housing.

It's public housing. If you earn over a certain amount of income, you aren't allowed to live there anymore. She was evicted due to a handgun incident and an arrest of her daughter which are evictable offenses but it still seems very coincidental. No offense, but it looks like you weren't the one that read the story.

I thought she would move out of Louisville for her own safety. The U of L fans have to hate this woman.

No, I read that. And I will defer to your knowledge as to the functions of public housing, I have no desire to be remain anything other than 100% ignorant of such subjects. Still, the part about need for petition led me to the possibility that eviction might be based on something other than clear violation.

Ever wonder why liberals don't make a push for a law to ban firearms from public housing? They are govt. / federal facilities are they not?

I'm guessing the charge was more of Wanton Endangerment or unregistered firearm. The petition is standard when you are evicted. You could get arrested for selling meth out of public housing and can still file a petition to stay. But it's like the NCAA, you're petitioning the people who already evicted you. I just find the situation odd. I've seen much worse situations not lead to eviction in public housing and here's the woman at the center of the one of the most embarrassing college scandals to date and she gets booted on something pretty small. Unless she had a history of complaints that weren't published, I would say the smart money is the bureaucrats with the Louisville Housing Authority throw up the L's on the weekend and saw the name and knew they had an out. I'm not defending Powell. The woman is trash, she should be in jail and I don't want her connected to UK in any way or form. I just think she probably got railroaded bc of who she was. Some might call it karma. Some may she deserves it. Not for me to decide.

If you live in Public Housing there is still a "lease". Each time that is up for renewal you reapply for assistance based on income.

Hence, if her income were too high she would just not be able to renew her lease the next year.

Katina Powell delays eviction from her Louisville home, for now

Powell — the author of "Breaking Cardinal Rules" and the self-proclaimed "escort queen" at the center of the University of Louisville basketball team's sex scandal — showed up in court Thursday morning wearing a Chicago Bulls jacket and bright red Adidas sneakers.

But because Powell did not have legal representation — "I had an attorney but he dropped," she told the judge — a hearing was rescheduled for 9:30 a.m. May 17.

An eviction notice was filed in court on April 25 on behalf of the Louisville Metro Housing Authority, according to online court records.

I still love the fact that the core of UL's rebuttal was that the prostitutes were 'cheap' so it wasn't such a major violation.

We're going to get the banners back and a huge apology from the NCAA by the time this is all said and done. They will be lucky if the school doesn't decide to sue for millions.
The entire "Powell" book is a farce. Anyone interested in purchasing a copy will be able to find it in the fiction section of the bookstore.
