Kansas

No dog in the fight, but their spacing looked awful. They had Dickinson on the high post clogging the lane forcing a non-shooting CF in KJ Adams to camp in the corner. I thought Timberlake would be more active in that offense but he was kind of a no-show going 0-3 from 3. Harris thrived when the court was wide open...it wasn't.

They'll probably be forced to play McCullar more which will shrink the court even more.

They didn't remotely look like the best team in the country...

...Tennessee on the other hand...boy howdy...they looked legit without their starting backcourt.

Their roster reminds me of UKs last two rosters with Oscar. A big hulking brute in the middle clogging the lane. No disrespect to Oscar. But that's a very bad way to play basketball in 2023. And we saw that with UK going out in the 1st and 2nd rounds the last two years. If UK can play in transition like 2017 I think we win this one.

Need big games from our freshmen. Would be nice for Wagner and Edwards to put up 20 a piece with Dillingham with about 15.
Yeah if Edwards/Wagner/Dilly all hit their college ceilings and are consistent we will be tough. We need Bradshaw to have the year we want though. At the very least a healthy UGO for some size and rim protection.

We need all 3 guys back. We are a bad rebounding team right now. But I have a feeling Bradshaw won't play a game for us. Klutch doesn't want him here after the way we used Chris Livingston. They wanted him on the west coast with USC.

We need 2 of the 3 bigs to play a role this year- I feel confident that those 2 will be Bradshaw and Big Z. But we'll see.

Lol what? They just won the national championship about a year and a half ago lol

I mean, aside from that, and their occasional tournament success, what have they given us, really?

Bucknell, Bradley, UNI, Stanford.

Aside from that title, they lost in the opening weekend 3 of the last 5 years (and also in 2014 and 2015). And 2018 they won nothing because of cheating. Kansas is the king of the regular season, but they are chumps when it counts.

You can tell they’re trying to turn him into a stretch 5. He can do it…but you want him out of the paint and he’s not quick enough for a legit P&R. He made one three and it was a bank.

You wanted Oscar to shoot, but he was SOOO active on the boards that it really didn’t matter.

Their best offense was McCullar iso tonight and that’s not a good thing.

You can’t say “aside from that” when they just won a national championship lol. They’ve been way better than Kentucky. And I’m a Kentucky fan. But it’s true. And they still might be way better than Kentucky this year. Hope not. But they might be

Been asking the question, who’s gonna score for Kansas? Don’t reckon the “pollsters” asked themselves that question. Lulz

No, they havent been way better than us lol. I just showed you what they did in the tournament over the last 10 years.

Illinois is going to be pretty damn good. I'm surprised they arent getting much love---but sort of understand. Shannon is the real deal...Hawkins has elevated and expnaded his game. If Goode can contribute, Illinois becomes a dangerous group. This is a good basketball team.

Kansas looked, well, disorganized tbh...Maybe its the NCAA thingy--I dunno. Just looked, well, meh...But this team has lots and lots of pieces. Using this game, or any game in October, i,e, exhibition, is silly. KU has some dudes. And look, I LOATHE HD---but that dudes a baller. Saying you're glad he didnt come to your school is silly---Dudes an AA type of talent...Yeah a huge douche---but hes gonna get you damn near 20 everytime out. AND, he can stretch the floor---nice shot, and passes very well.

Dickinson----Hes a career 17ppg guy....KJ Adams---Harris ....But McCullars will be their guy---Had 25 today, and looked pretty good.

Looked really good----And as you said, w/o Ziegler and Vescovi. Knecht is legit---wanted him badly at Indiana.

This could be, COULD be, Barnes best team at UT. They are legit.

I wish Cal would wake up and copy this approach. Give all your new guys a chance to "get punched in the nose" and wake up from the hype and start digging in and trying to get better like their lives depended on it---------like we wind up doing every year-------only at the end of the day it's an exhibition game and won't hurt your seeding.

IL will be good, but they looked so good today because KU looked so overmatched.

HD is a good old-school big, but he is a liability in today’s game because he is slow and cannot defend well. He also doesn’t appear to be a strong shooter. Opposing teams are going to attack him all year like they did Oscar for the last 2. The big 10 still plays more of that old school style, the big 12 and others don’t so much. I am honestly glad we did not get him.

Vescovi and Ziegler are both turnover prone, which is the same issue UT seemed to have today. Ziegler also isn’t a good shooter and is likely going to take a while to return to form. His injury was just 7 1/2 months ago. Vescovi will help them some, but UT doesn’t scare me.

UT is going to be good man. I know you dudes dont like them---but Knecht and Gainey are the real deal. Zeigler is extremely talented---yeah he has some ball issues, but the kid is very talented.

Tenn is gonna be a headache. Fast, athletic, and they can actually score.

HD defends very well on the post...He does struggle in the PNR. Hes a really good shooter. Shot 41% from three(24-57) and his eFG% is almost 60%. Very good passer, sees the floor well, and reacts to double teams very quickly. Hes "good enough" off the bounce---especially with back to the basket, off the elbows. Hes a really good player.

Not sure KU was overmatched as much as well, Illinois really shot the ball well---extremely well. BUt Kansas looked disorganized, and out of sync. Illinois looked like a team that wanted to win, played with late season energy. KU seemed to simply go through the motions.

I was impressed with all 4 teams today...More so though with UT. They looked really good.

UT does this every year. They look like world beating monsters and then they can’t do jack in the tourney.

Forget what you saw it’s exhibition. It’s not even November.

We have a lot of Self ass kissers in the UK fan base and it sickens me. Eff KU and everything about their cheating ass.
Their cheating has given us a chance to right the wrong of losing the overall wins mark. We have to get back to winning and put some distance,

Ehh, I don’t think anyone said they wouldn’t be good. Just not convinced they are going to be a threat. Hell, even you said not to base much off exhibitions, but you’re basing a lot off their game today.

Ziegler tore his acl just over 7 months ago. He is going to take a while to get back to where he was. And, he and Vescovi are both a bit turnover prone. We shall see, but we have managed well against them last couple of years and they were pretty good.

Hunter sure gives up a lot to be a good defender. Maybe Big 10 good, but he was blown by countless times today by a big 10 school. Just not seeing it. You’re entitled to your opinion, but I am glad he didn’t choose UK. Consider he averaged less than 2 3’s per game, it’s not a large sample. And his first 2 years weren’t good at all.

KU just did not look good. They didn’t get demolished, but IL always seemed in total control.

I suspect you’ll feel differently about them all as the season moves along.

Thank God we have people like you that know everything.

I think you need to go look at Ziegler and Vescovi's assist to turnover rate. Vescovi's assist/turnover rate was 3.1/1.5 and Zeigler led the SEC in assists at 5.4 and his assist/turnover rate was 5.4/2.3. You're wrong.

You just proved they avg almost 4 turnovers a game. They are both guard with a near 2 to 1 assist turnover ratio. That’s not good unless you’re just unfamiliar with basketball.

"Modern offense"??

But at least they played somebody good in preseason. I'm all for us playing KY teams in preseason, but think we learn more from playing Murray or EKU or Western than NAIA colleges.
