Just re watched the 2nd O.T.

I have to say that may have been the best 5 minute stretch of offensive basketball UK has played all season. The Cats scored on every single possession minus the BS traveling call on Lyles which he scored on too.

13 points in 5 minutes in the clutch, that avgs out to 104 over 40 minutes.

That 2nd OT was "Vintage Kentucky".

I agree minus the fact that Lyles walk was BS. He lost his balance and took three steps on the spin...it was absolutely a walk. One of the few the zebras got right yesterday.

LOL how was he shoved on a spin move where he completely rolls off of the defender. He got his feet tangled and lost his balance...that was it. Some people will cry about anything even when nothing happened haha.

Are you certain UPS? Look again, Trey maintains his pivot foot.
 
Not a walk! Zebra doing what they do and react to what they perceive had to be a walk because it was a little clumsy move. Legit pivot. If he doesn't loose his balance I don't think the whistle would have been blown. I don't like the anticipated whistles at all.
 
Just re watched and definetly a walk. He picks up the ball and plants his left foot When he starts to attempt the spin (one step) and then spins to the left and steps with his right foot (2nd step) and then finally plants his left foot again (three steps).

In the NBA it wouldn't have been a travel, but that is because nothing is a travel in the NBA lol.

I feel strongly both ways....

At first glance during the game it did look like that pivot foot lifted

But after looking at the slow-mo replay, no way!

.
 
I am a zebra for high school ball and I'm not reacting to anything other than a replay on the television that clearly shows three steps lol. If you have the replay watch it....33 seconds left of 2nd overtime. When he picks up the ball he takes three steps. He takes a step before he even establishes his right foot as the pivot on that move.

Ukcatsfan2 the walk had nothing to do with the pivot being lifted as Clark Kellogg suggested....Lyles took three steps as I described twice already in the thread.

Thanks TP. That is certainly not a travel as Lyles maintained his right pivot foot the whole spin move.

What sucks about it is the bad call cost UK a perfect offensive showing in the 2nd OT.

That was text book offensive basketball for 5 min on the road in the SEC in a double OT stanza and we needed to because AM was on our butts until about 30 sec left.

We got better point guard play but the main thing about double OT was Lyles. He controlled that game. Cal (finally) found something when he put him up high against that zone.

Most of the day they just sardined us. I've seen a lot of tight zones since Cal got to UK but nothing like that. The bigs are way too soft with the ball right now, but in their defense there are times they catch it and there are literally four guys around them.

flawed logic.

Of course we will score faster...we were already in double bonus. So when dakari gets a rebound and get's fouled twice...the possession took maybe 2 seconds off the clock for 4 points... (Also Lyles for additional 2 points, i believe)

they also lost their bigs who's been fouling us like crazy whole game. He probably fouled us like 10 times (at least).

Texas AM was also attacking us too, they weren't exactly slowing it down. (they started chucking a bit more threes, which helped us).

One thing that did help was Lyles seemed to have woken up too. Made a confident midrange jumper and nice assist.
 
I guess these college refs aren't used to 6'10 players making spin moves like a SF in the paint but they better get used to it and stop screwing UK and Lyles!
 
No travel there!!!! Established his pivot foot, his right foot, and jumped up and under for a layup! No different than picking up your dribble pivoting in a circle and taking a jump shot. You are allowed to leave the floor after creating a pivot. There is no way you can tell me he took 3 steps after he picked up his dribble.
 
This is official that would from a distance look like he was on the take, Brian Shey. He was the buffoon behind every horrific call.
 
Don't know what HS ball you've watched, but it's easy to be a ref in attendance when you have an overhead look at everything.

Kwilt....jmeeks....whoever you are his foot most certainly touches before he shoots. Once again....he took three steps....nothing to do with lifting his pivot foot. How on earth can you deny that when the replay shows it?

Classic jump stop. Guess what, you get to select a foot to pivot on, he chose his right foot. Great move for a 6'10 big man.

Are you serious lol? First of all a classic jump stop you land on two feet not one. secondly even if you half way believe what you're saying the fact still is that he took three steps....period. How old are you and have you ever played organized basketball in your life?

Here's where the confusion lies. Those who think he took three steps are focusing on the left foot as the pivot. No so. It was the right foot that he established as his pivot just as he ended his dribble. That foot never left the floor. He never traveled.
 
It was 3 steps, also we didn't score on our 1st possession in OT, because of the bad out of bounds call on Booker.
 
i'm 44. Claim to fame in my basketball world was playing against Rex, where he came to our house and put up 43 and beat us by 3. When Apollo needed a score he had the ball and he scored with ease. I'm just glad the 3 point line didn't come into play until 87. I don't see 3 steps, I see a big man creating a pivot and covering a lot of ground for a layup. I'm not the only one either. Now how old are you?

Fred he could have established his right foot as the pivot if he would have made a jump stop, but when he individually puts the left foot on the floor for his first step and then spins to his right foot then he cannot again place his left foot on the floor...period. It's the rule.

Mdl....funny "lol". I am 30....no clame to fame just played four years of ball and could have played D1 if not for the fact I was a 6'0 small forward with limited range, quickness and jumping ability. Other than that....I was close.

I watched the video of Lyle a dozen times ... at first I thought we walked, but the more you watch it the more you see he doesn't. I see him doing a jump stop where BOTH feet are set, then he pivots on is right foot and makes a layup. Great play.

Too often the refs are anticipating a call. And unfortunately the refs at this game not only anticipated calls, but seemed to be leaning to call against UK in favor of the home team.

The key was having a PF on the floor with ball skills. Lyles was mediocre all game until they shifted him to PF. If he can play tougher on D this could be something we see more of moving forward. A zone offense of he, Ulis, Aaron, and Booker could be very good.
 
you guys that say it's a travel are you saying his left foot is the pivot foot? I know I'm beating a dead horse lol but It doesn't matter where you pick up your dribble you get to create a pivot foot. I agree it looks awkward because he picked up his dribble with his back to the basket but he is still allowed to create a pivot foot.

Agree,after he picks up his left foot(starting the spin move) it never touches the floor until the ball leaves his hand,had it done so it would have been a walk
