Jon sumrall expected to be the candidate for the UNC job

Sexton doing Sexton things. No doubt Sumrall is on their radar, but an article I just read says Rett Lashley, the head coach at SMU is their guy. He is also SMU's guy and just signed an extension, don't think UNC can win a bidding war here. Dan Mullen was next, then the guy at Iowa State. Sexton is probably each one's agent.

I read elsewhere that Clint Dowdle, former partner with Sexton was his agent. Don’t know if that’s true though.

UNC has deeeeeep pockets. If they really want him they will make him an offer he can't refuse.

Truth is it's a good job too. The ACC is weak as any major conference could be. It would be a great place to build a name before moving on to one of the big name power schools.

Sumrall at UNC might be good, that's a place we could get him away from in a couple of years if needed.

With SEC TV money EASILY topping ACC money, we also have deep pockets, and a move from NC to UK would be viewed as a lateral move, at worst. If he landed an SEC gig, he would likely be out of the conversation with us in a year or two.

And the ACC will blow the Hell up in the near future, with FSU pushing the plunger.

UNC paid Mack 5 mil while UK paid stoops 9 mil. Maybe could pay more than they have been but they also have to give Mack 3 mil a year the next 4 years

From what I have read Sumrall is 3 or 4 option on the list.

Seeing the same, Dan Mullen is very high, maybe top guy, and is very interested. You seeing that too, him and Rett Lashley at SMU are top 2 from what I have seen.

If SMU wants to keep Lashley UNC needs to go to number 2, they don't have enough money. They aren't even takingvTV money until the next contract, a dozen or so booster had a meeting and determined they needed 150m miming to go that route and had the checks from that group in minutes. Apparently that is the big money school in Texas.

No one is stealing anyone from SMU.

Am I the only person who sees SMU as National Champions, very soon?
They have enough money that they didn't feel they needed the ACC member split. We are back in 1987, when SMU got the Death Penalty for doing everything that is now legal.

Mark it down. SMU National Champs before 2030.
UK last in the SEC before...well, today.

You would think that UNC could get Sumrall away from Tulane. I'm sure they could pay him more, the ACC not being a powerhouse football conference is still a more prestigious league than Tulane is in. Plus where the competition in the ACC isn't that great, a high quality coach like Sumrall could win there. It would also be a good training ground for him to get prepared when his alma mater Kentucky and the prestige of an SEC school comes calling.

Tulane vs Memphis tonight(Thanksgiving) on ESPN. Both schools are 9-2, Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield is also thought to be an UNC candidate so we could have Sumrall/Silverfield auditioning for the UNC job. Game is at Tulane.
