Johnson to Arizona

It doesn't matter if 4 of them are elite. If we have a roster of 7 players, the players will be playing 35 minutes a game and run into the ground by mid season. We have seen what fatigue and injuries do to our key players when we don't have a solid bench. If we are counting on Wagner and Dillingham to each give us 35 mins a game, we are F'ed.
While it's certainly not ideal (and we don't even know about Reeves and Oscar coming back yet)... In 2011, that team was only six deep. So it can be done. The bigger point is that it's May 19th... let's hold the phone on the freak outs before we know who is actually going to be on the roster. Remember, we got Reid Travis in August? Again, not ideal, but he was a key piece to that team. Let's just see what happens in the next couple of weeks especially.

We're not eating first.
Not even catching table scraps.
Something has to change. I know I know best freshman class in history blah blah blah... Older experienced players for the most part don't wanna come here. They see through Calipari
Part of the problem also is that we have 4 guys (more if Reeves/Oscar return) who you KNOW are going to get big minutes. Most guys transferring aren't looking for a place to come off the bench for 10-15 mpg. It's our lack of player retention and development that is seriously killing us. We need these incoming freshmen to join several 3-4 year college guys and we just don't have that.

It was def OA the first goaround that he got info from.. When OA left for Florida his info dried up.. Now that O is back so is MM with insider info.. He's still an ass bum though.. Was a mod for him so i know all about his shadiness..

If we don’t get Johnson, I don’t even know what to say or think anymore. I mean damn!
What’s different in your thinking as opposed to the last 5-7 years? Mine never changes. He simply doesn’t care. We have shit facilities that our Quaker won’t upgrade. Each year we lose ground to more and more teams. We got owned by K State. This is the melancholy decade of Kentucky Basketball. A sad time to have to watch a shell of a program that used to be. Indiana has even surpassed us as a hot school. The enthusiasm in this program has been on life support for years.

So Kentuckys only hope is to pray a new wave of grad transfers happens, lol what a fricking joke
Why? We can't land them or Cow want bring them because he fears Bradshaw will bolt or they are worried about playing time so won't come.

Going in to next season with 7. Cow, "we are young, hell we can't even scrimmage because we don't have enough guys, the coachs have to scrimmage."

1 or 2 every year injuries and Canada will be relied on for big mins.🤡🤡🤡

There are still a lot of players still in the portal but those players want more minutes now or later. The problem is UK always recruits talented freshmen to start. Transfers with 2 or more seasons left know they'll never play more than a bench warmers role at UK.

7 is akin to "Hoosiers" depth and they won a championship. Don't lose hope Cats fans.

Yep, we can’t get a guy that has played 3 yrs already and averages 7pts a game, that is how far we have fallen. Is it the promises to the freshmen (we know Cal doesn’t make promises) (Or keep his word or tell the truth) I knew something was up when Lance left, we won’t have any leadership.

Now all of a sudden Lance is supposedly a big loss. I like Lance but he is a mediocre player. There is nothing special about him. Only the Cal haters would be spreading all of this doom-and-gloom nonsense over the loss of a player like Lance.

Maybe we need to get Vince Marrow from the football team to get involved in the transfer portal, The football team is adding quality talent left and right WTF is going on??????

Quality talent is relative when you compare it to the upper tier SEC teams. Won't win anything that matters.

Basketball team needs top tier talent and sire isn't getting it.

Well, this sucks. He would have been such a good fit. Shot is suspect, but a great defender and proven winner that could guide the freshmen. Damn.

Just to put things into perspective, Kentucky plays in the Canada Tourney in 54 days and currently has 7 scholarship players and one walk on who could play in a pinch in Canada(Kentucky guy from GRC)

That’s him. Idk about above board. He does, supposedly, know things regarding the program. Frosty tips, yes. 🤣
Magilla gorilla or the OP is frosty tips maybe both. The fact he’s back in business should scare everyone. He hasn’t had a scoop since Bcg and has to be in the limelight. He’s probably just regurgitating what he heard here trying to become relevant again.

Which is the point. If we're waiting on another Reid Travis to show up, we're toast.

It is not considered to be a bad class. NBA scouts love Edwards and Bradshaw and many of them like Wagner a lot. We have 2 talented sophomores. We only need a few more reserves. Cal will sign a few transfers.
It doesn’t matter. These guys won’t reach their potential for 6 years and they’re not like our past freshman who came in like men. This is a groups of post COVID gen zs. Cal tried this before and we won 9 games.

Fair enough statement.

Of course we don't know how the last 2-4 roster spots will look like. But lets compare 2011 to 2024.

Wagner & Knight: Knight was really good. He did turn it over a bit and wasn't a facilitator, but he shot the ball well. I think Wagner could be in the Knight "ballpark", but have to give Knight the edge.

Dillingham & Lamb: Very different type players. Lamb the best shooter arguably ever at UK. But as a FR didn't do a lot else. Dillingham may show to be much more versatile, but of course isn't as good a shooter. But his impact could be similar.

Jones & Bradshaw: Both wanted/want to be perimeter guys. Jones had the body to play inside, Bradshaw has the length to play inside, but looks really thin & weak. So I'd be shocked if he is as good as Jones as a FR.

Miller & Edwards: I think Edwards may be our best FR since Murray or Monk/Fox/Bam, so better than Knox. And we may need him to be that good. As a JR, Miller was good, but not that good. Edge Edwards.

Liggins & nobody yet: If Reeves returned, while Reeves is the much better scorer. Liggins shot it well as a JR, and was really good on DEF. So I'd prefer Liggins, but their impact may not be too different.

Harrellson & Onyenso: Harrellson was a solid role playing C good for 7-10 pts and 7-10 reb. That is similar I expect from Onyenso. He will be less of a physical presence, but more of a shot blocking rim protector. So similar impact.

Sheppard and Theiro are better than "dammit" Vargas and Hood no doubt. I think Theiro could be a contributor, if we knew what position he was needed at next year.

But the 2011 team had really good shooting (Lamb, Knight, Miller, Liggins) the best 3pt shooting ever at UK, Liggins was one of the best defenders we've had (Jones, Miller & Knight weren't bad either). Jones and Harrellson could bang inside. So the balance was there.
It is almost certain that our shooting will be mediocre next year at best. But we do have defensive potential. Scoring potential. But nothing right now to bang inside with.

Then you link the tweet and don't act like you've personally got the scoop. No one should just believe that. Like I said, he may be right, but I don't know this cat from Adam and his soothsaying prognostication doesn't have any credence with me.
People have gotten lazy. They don't verify anything anymore and often don't put out a disclaimer but want to be the first to report it. That goes for national media as well, lol.

And believe every rumor that paints Cal in a bad light to further their own world view/confirmation bias, before even validating anything about the source at all.

See above. Maggard was only saying that is likely Johnson's thought process. Arizona is losing Tubelis and has a big shiny starting PF spot opening up.
how could they, just got a commitment from a big international kid

Brown & Nelson!
EVEN if these 2 guys wanted to come to UK, ccc would have to check with Bradshaw & his camp for approval & then probably wouldn't take them for fear of Bradshaw changing his mind & leaving
Sharpe showed the world how to control ccc & UK
