Have you ever thought of making a list of the Kentucky's teams that had the most NBA draft picks, and the teams that had the most players play in an NBA game. I think that would be an interesting stat to look at.
It looks like Boston has drafted 9 Cats over the years and I think that is tops. Can't help you with the other stuff.
that's interesting but I meant like 1996 team had 8 draft picks and 9 players something like thatWe were a great team, and the Kansas game really showed what they were capable of.
As the season went on we were having issues once there was plenty of tape on us. That SEC ended up being the worst I've ever seen. Only an idiot would argue it didn't have a positive effect on things. And I'm one that never usually believes the SEC is anywhere near as bad as they're made out to be.
I believe the team was slightly overrated in some areas, and any stupid stat that suggest our offense was some juggernaut is just ridiculous. Believe what you want, this board is having issues admitting they were not the juggernaut they thought.
Ahh, gottcha, according to his site, the 1975 and 1981 team had 10 guys drafted, which I believe is the most draft picks from one team. Remember that the draft had a lot more rounds back then.
1981 Team
1981 Draft
Fred Cowan - never played in the NBA
1982 Draft
Chuck Verderber - never played in the NBA
1983 Draft
Dirk Minniefield - played from 85 to 88
Derrick Hord - never played in the NBA
Charles Hurt - never played in the NBA
1984 Draft
Sam Bowie - played from 84 to 94
Mel Turpin - played from 84 to 90
Dicky Beal - never played in the NBA
Jim Master - never played in the NBA
Tom Heitz - never played in the NBA
If you go by todays standards (60 guys drafted), the 1975 team had the most drafted with those perimeters I believe (Mike Flynn was also drafted in 1975 with the 113th pick, but did play in the NBA):
1975 Team
1975 Draft
Kevin Grevey - 18th pick
Jack Givens - 16th pick
Jimmy Dan Conner - 36th pick
Bob Guyette - 49th pick
1977 Draft
Larry Johnson - 24th pick
1978 Draft
Rick Robey - 3rd pick
Jack Givens - 16th pick
James Lee - 39th pick
Mike Phillips - 45th pick

Yes, I stated it in my post. That is why for the 74-75 team I used guys who were drafted in the top 60 to compare it to the number of guys that are drafted in todays draft. They also had like 8-10 rounds back then so lots of players with no chance of ever playing were drafted.
Sorry. Overlooked it.Yes, I stated it in my post. That is why for the 74-75 team I used guys who were drafted in the top 60 to compare it to the number of guys that are drafted in todays draft.
Another followup. I have gone ahead and created a set of webpages which lists the UK teams with the most number of Players drafted by an NBA team and most number of players who played in the NBA.
Most UK Players Drafted by NBA from same team
Most UK Players who Played in NBA/ABA from same team
As I said this doesn't necessarily mean they were all drafted the same year, just that they were eventually drafted. At some point I probably should make another page which limits the draft picks to the first two rounds, since in years past there were significantly more rounds, which skews the results.
Beyond that, I also looked at high school accomplishments and put together some pages which lists the teams with the most McDonalds AA's, most Parade AA's & most Mr. Basketball's.
This information is now also available for every single team on their respective roster page.
Example from 2014-15 team
The 1977/1978 team had ten players go on to play pro ball. Nine basketball and one played pro baseball. (Jay Shidler)
The Indianapolis Olympians would be the winner. The 1948 or 1949 UK team formed the large majority of the players.Have you ever thought of making a list of the Kentucky's teams that had the most NBA draft picks, and the teams that had the most players play in an NBA game.
