Joe B. Hall

I may be wrong but I took this post as someone worried about a state treasure may not be with us much longer. Not a ngative post, just worried we wont have him here much longer. Wonderfull man ...

What would be the best way to get an autograph from Joe B Hall on a basketball I have? I currently have both Calipari and Tubby on it. I would like to add Joe B too!

I used to have the entire collection of these cards. Got Joe B. to sign one for me back in the 90's.

I only just finally did get both sets. Isn't it so unfair that there are BILLIONS of the North Carolina ones out there (I really hated it when Shop at Home would scream that they were JORDAN COLLEGE ROOKIES!!!! when they came out several years after MJ was at UNC...that doesn't count!!) but hardly any UK ones...at least not complete sets. :(

I bet those cards were really awesome to have in those pre-Internet days especially.

They were indeed. The UK cards had two different styles. I LOVED the first style, but I went on to collect them both missing one card out of each set.

I had both of these cards signed at Jefferson Mall by Rex Chapman. I believe it was around 2005 I decided to throw them in the garbage.

Hall did the impossible and followed Rupp. 3 final fours and a NCAA title. He was robbed in 1975 when Wooden said he was retiring after the title game. The officials were going to make sure Wooden went out with a title and that’s exactly what they did.
Hall also had to deal with Rupp keeping an office at Memorial Coliseum and Rupp continued to have his own TV show during basketball season. Rupp also sat front and center in Rupp Arena in a lazyboy during games. Yet, Hall didn’t complain or say a word- just kept coaching. Hall is a Kentucky treasure and should be treated as such.
I was Rupp’s Student Manager last 3 years he was always looking over Joe’s shoulder but Joe never complained Class act

Exactly. If someone said I looked terrible for 89, my response would be “who cares, I made it to 89!!”
Joe B's only issue was he followed a legend , Coach Rupp is one of the five greatest coaches to ever be in the sport. Folks didn't truly appreciate Joe B while he was the coach at Kentucky.

Just a class act in every aspect. Being the Head Basketball Coach at Kentucky has to be the most difficult job in sports and it really wears on an individual. Cal is handling it better than anyone I've ever seen but during his tenure at UK Coach Hall was very withdrawn and always seemed to have a ton on his mind. I used to see him in front of the Coliseum on occasion and he was always nice enough to say hello, however, when he was out with his wife he was tense and looked as if he didn't want to be bothered (can't say I blame him). When he retired one could tell that the weight of the world was off his shoulders and he was the most cordial, friendly individual you'd ever want to meet. I had the great pleasure of meeting him at an alumni function in Dallas back in the '90's and I have to say that there was no one better at representing the University than Coach Hall.

When he goes to heaven (hope it will be a long time away) Bobby Knight will be temporarily assigned to come from hell to wash his feet every Saturday.

I'm still waiting for Bobby Knight to shake his hand after Coach Hall beat him in the 1975 Mideast Regional Finals.

Dad?

Will be 90 on Nov. 30...wish these young ass "kids" would stop making fun of old people on here!! Lots of wisdom and love there and if wasn't for Joe's generation these young assholes would already be living under the socialism/communism they are craving.
Most younger people tend to not pay attention to old folks......I am not where you are yet but hope to get there...:grimace: They only crave the socialism because they think it is nothing but hand outs........

Snackbar I've got a couple rogue dudes coming at me with less than 50 post. Just doing my job.

Might need backup.

A player with a NC on his resume no less........
The only player at Ky to play and head coach to a title.
If you aren't familiar with coach Hall's story it is interesting the way coach Rupp had tryouts.

His mind is fine.

Remind him of a time that you had a prior interaction with him, and he’ll confidently say, “I remember that!”
