Jelavic in playoffs

He has been performing very well. I think he is gonna be the player that is a lot better than we all expect
If he can acclimate to the physicality, he will be better than most expect. That is a big if though. He is older. So, he may mature in that area faster than a Freshman might. Has there been an official weight posted. He has wide shoulders. While he doesn’t look as imposing as Williams, he looks more defined and muscular than Ivisic.

Might be that unexpected piece of the puzzle that provides just the right mysterious bit of team chemistry that will be the unexpected good thing next year. I think the great construction about this team is that the description I just made could be said for several players on the team next year. Jelavic is just one, and we just don't know how the team chemistry is going to be.

yet.

this is a really good sign for coming in and meshing well with everyone

I think once everyone is on campus and he's battling every day against Garrison and Dioubate that will accelerate the physicality aspect faster for him hopefully, either way can't wait to see the growth and development of the whole team.

I’m not going to get too hyped about this guy. I don’t know what the level of competition is like in the league he is playing in, and we were burned by Ivisic as a Freshman, so I am expecting him to be a 10-15 minute a game role player, playing behind our veteran frontcourt guys. If he gives us more and pushes some college Juniors and Sophomores to the bench, then good for him and good for us.

We are screwed. He literally shot 0% from the 3. Absolutely horrible. Might as well cut him loose now or forfeit the season.

Sarcasm……

I’ve seen the league be compared to a mid major conference and then to the MEAC which is one of lower D1 level so I honestly don’t know. But I will say this guy looks like he fight and be a little more aggressive than big Z was

As far as exceeding expectations, I think Lowe is at the top of the list. Kind of an OO situation. That said, Jelavic is right there. He looks like he's gotten a touch more muscle on him than what most of his highlights show, too. Looking forward to seeing this dude in blue.

Very nice numbers from that game. From his picture, he doesn't look like a skinny rail of a guy either and has some muscle tone. He may be more ready for SEC play than many originally thought. Hope he's a very pleasant surprise player for us this season and gives us strong frontcourt play.

More excited about this guy than anyone else. I love going after the overseas guys. I've seen enough of them in college to know that teams find "diamond in the rough" type guys all the time from foreign countries. Fingers crossed.

He could be the difference in a good season and a great one.

Based on the sample size of foreign players we have had on our team, we’ve really never got a real contributor, the go to guy. CMP seems to have open the playing field and we will recruit overseas yearly. I like it. This kid has things that we’ve not seen from a foreigner. May he be the one. I expect and believe he is our Ace in the Hole.

Go Cats!

The only bracket I found still shows a game for Jelavic team on the 20th of May. There are different Mega BEMAX teams (one under 17) and such. I think they all are in different playoffs. So info is hard to get your brain wrapped around. I just hope he is done by end of May and that UK staff gets things completed now so he can be here with the team to bond. Do not need a guy not getting here till August. Other one is getting Jaden Quaintence here and rehabbing here with his teammates during the summer.

Ive seen AJ listed at 6'11" 224lbs. I would not be surprised to see him listed on UK roster to start the season at 6'11" 234lbs along with Mo at 6'7" 225lbs. Either way we have a pretty solid rotation at the PF with Jelavic for scoring/shooting and Mo for defense/dirty work. Jayden gets backs to 100% we have him at 6'9" 235lbs, BG 6'11" 255lbs, MM 7'0" 240lbs and RP 7'1" 230lbs should be one of if not the best frontcourts in college basketball next year.

Yup.

I am expecting that by March BG, MD, and JQ are playing the majority of the minutes at the 4 and 5. I think AJ and MM will see most of their PT before the SEC season starts and that their roles diminish as the season progresses and JQ starts to get his legs under him so to speak. I think RP will redshirt, unless it becomes apparent that JQ is not going to play.

AJ is a wildcard. If we can get more than just backup production out of him, we are going to be really, really good.

I think that’s a formidable rotation at the 4 and 5.

But JQ is the main question mark. He’s a game changer on both ends of the floor when 100% healthy, but will he be back 100%? How well he plays could be the difference in a good season and a great season.

KSR had a writeup on the post season for Jelavic. He is out of one tourney and is down 0-1 in the 2nd / last chance tourney for them. If they lose tonight, the season is over for Jelavic and Mega team. FMP beat them 86-81 and they play FMP today/tonight.

Watching his game closely I’m willing to bet on him being one of our very best next year next too Otega! I think Jelavich will be the steal of the class!
In his clips he has nice touch and is a pretty fluid athlete. He looks like the real deal to me. He'll get plenty of exposure to physical play during our practices.

He is a really good pickup and I like what you called him, A steal!!

Might could. He's got the athletic tools and the shooting to do it. Only question I have is at his size, how does he respond to the physicality of the SEC and monster noncon bigs? We talk about him moving over to PF at times, but he might not be strong enough in his sophomore year to tangle with the biggest and baddest.

Personally, I think he's more of a 2 or 3. But you are correct about adjusting to the physicality of the SEC. That's a concern for everyone other than Aberdeen and Mo Dioubate. Mentioning Dioubate, I expect him to turn some heads along with his grit and bully ball play. Sears, his Alabama teammate called him a skilled Dennis Rodman. I know that's lofty praise but I can see it.

The physicality of the SEC is the main reason I think Aberdeen and Dioubate start for us this season. With them added to Oweh and Garrison, we have four of our five starters that have been through the rigors of the SEC. While I think Lowe, Johnson, Quaintance, Jelavic, and Williams might be more talented overall, those guys not only have experience, but SEC experience, and MD and DA have Final Four experience as well.

I think he is a 3 and not a 4. He can even play 2 and guard 2's.
