I'll let you know after I see him play some real competition.
So the U.S. Nat'l team was not real, huh?

I'll let you know after I see him play some real competition.
I like his comparison way more than yours. You say he is a pg, then proceed to compare him to two guys who are clearly not pg's. We've had better guards than Louie Dampier here since the 60's.There is not a valid comparison between Jamal Murray and Pete Maravich. Maravich was a true wing guard who played the point most of the time at LSU. Murray is a true point guard who will play the wing most of the time at Kentucky. Murray is a physically stronger player who will be a much better defender and rebounder. But Maravich had a significant NBA career, so I will wait before saying anything that would diminish Maravich in the comparison. But I think Murray is the best guard who has played at Kentucky since Louie Dampier, who was a 1st team All American. I know that is a bold statement, but Murray is 1 of the 2-3 best college basketball players in the country. Of course, Murray is 5 inches taller than Dampier. At this point, Murray compares best with Dwayne Wade or Kobe Bryant, because Murray is a strong, athletic player who can create shots and score at the rim, in mid-range, or from the perimeter. By the way, Murray has a shooting flaw. He often takes shots without squaring his shoulders to the basket. Calipari will correct that, and we will see some unearthly shooting nights by Murray. Murray skipped his senior year of high school. He is young, underrated, and has tremendous upside.
looks like someone that would go to Duke for some reason - he's all over the place, that's for sureNot the best choice of words..........![]()
Did you watch the Pan Am games? Murray was dominant against Melo Trimble and Malcolm Brogdon. He won't face a better pair of guards all year.....besides practicing against Ulis and BriscoeI'll let you know after I see him play some real competition.
I agree with this. I think his best case scenario is like being the Paul Pierce of the 2 spot. Which is pretty damn good. The way he shoots the ball coming off screens remind me of Mitch Richmond. Of course, I don't think he'll be nearly the shooter Mitch was, but Jamal is smart like Richmond was at choosing his spots.
Murray is going to be a very good pro. I know there's been so much emphasis on athletic prowess, but I'm not sold on Murray having to be some type of transcendent athlete to thrive. His scoring skills are elite, and it basically offsets the notion of his needing any type of athletic boost to get by in the NBA.
I like this comparison a lot.A bigger Tony Parker. Smooth to the basket and will have several games where his shot is the dagger to the opponent....
Like it or don't. There is no comparison between Murray and Maravich. Murray is a physically strong player who scores proficiently at the rim, mid-range, or on the perimeter. Wade and Bryant are also versatile scorers all over the floor. You are wrong about Bryant. Kobe often brings the ball downcourt and initiates the offense. Maravich had no mid-range game, and did not penetrate nearly as well. Maravich was a deadly perimeter shooter who never played a lick of defense or rebounded. Murray will be a very good defender and rebounder. Most people haven't figured out yet how good Murray is. The kid missed his senior year of high school, but he already plays like a skilled NBA guard on both ends. People are still comparing Murray to Booker and Mercer, but Murray is way better. The comparison to Curry is not far off tho.I like his comparison way more than yours. You say he is a pg, then proceed to compare him to two guys who are clearly not pg's. He is a much better shooter and not as athletic as Wade.Duwayne Wade
I think he looks like Paul Andrews. Mulder looks like Bobby Perry!
You say he's nothing like Maravich, then compare him to the guy who is basically a modern day Maravich. You don't know what you're talking about.Like it or don't. Shhhh! We don't want that dude posting here any more.Butter; smooth as
He has a different game than either of them, but there is a lot of truth in this. The difference is that Harden and Ginobili are Kamikaze's when it comes to driving to the basket, and they use that to set up jumphots. Murray is more of a pure shooter, but also clearly has an ability to get to the hoop.Harden or Ginobli would be mine. Good not great athletes, good ballhandlers and passers. Solid scorers from everywhere on the floor. Smart players.

You're right, but I think the same thing is true of Murray.I think Harden is a much better athlete than most give him credit for.

Yes! And Matthews looks kinda like Wayne Turner.I think he looks like Paul Andrews. Mulder looks like Bobby Perry!
