Rick is selling a lot of real estate including his $25,000,000 Miami mansion. With lawsuits galore in his future this may be a wise thing. A little place off shore might be what the doctor orders. We live in a crazy world.

Just imagine how many dirty hoors have found their way to that place’s tables and countertops.

Resale of these types of houses is always funny to me. Who in their right mind would buy this house for $20+ million when they could custom-build their own...

Not having huge checks coming in every couple of weeks, he probably thinks he's six months away from the poor house.

Shouldn't be the purpose of this sale. There is an unlimited homestead exemption in Florida.

Whether or not this qualifies as a homestead, is a fair question though

This is a perfect example how f**ked up college sports are. There should be no way a College coach that can afford to have a 26,000,000 house. Coaches shouldn't make more then $500,000 a year Max. All they have is 13 players that have to train and get to play like a team.

Was he a Florida resident and was this his primary residence or just a place to play around. In his present status it is probably a little too big for him and his hosting entertainment took a hit. So sell and find something in Costa Rica

This is also why we don't trust the NCAA or the roofers it hires to ref the games. It is why the Duke and UNCcheat brand are protected at all cost. Waaaaaay too much money involved in an "amateur" sport. Amateur my azz!!

I am somewhat sympathetic to your argument though I am a free market guy. It is sad that the medical Professor who is educating future doctors who will save lives....only makes a fraction of what Pitino, Jurich and others in the Athletics dept made. This from what ESPN best described as a mid-major school. Sadly when you have white-collar criminals like Bernie Madoff or Tom Jurich who find a way to enrich themselves by stealing other peoples money....you'll have their employes like Pitino feasting from the ill-gotten gains and keeping quiet about it until it all finally falls apart.

It might be a good idea for the University presidents to get together to cap salaries of the Football and Basketball coaches or at least to tie them to a multiple of the average tenured professors salary.

I'm a free market guy too, but when I think about this in the context of a state university who is at the same time fleecing taxpayers for a basketball palace, it's kind of disgusting.

Yea it is ugly. I believe that the state shows their wage to be a lot less. The gyrations the athletics departments go through to in order to get around rules alrady in place by public institutions should be disclosed more publicly. Transparency. That is not there today. You need an auditor to get into the details to figure out what the head coach actually makes. And when they are hidden...it allows for an Adidas and a crook like Jurich to twist and contort in order to pay huge salaries...with money not his.

Have you ever looked at a list of the highest paid public employees? I think they are pretty much employed by Louisville Water Company. I've never understood that one.

I live in louisville. Quite honestly, I love this city and grew up here and had an awesome childhood and upbringing.

I can tell you this and it's sad to say it...the whole city from the university, the mayor, the public schools system, and the police chief has gotten so crooked and watered down it's sickening. Murder almost everyday, heroine on every street corner. Everything needs to change, not just at UofL but the whole damn city

Sadly. Lexington is worse.

I love Coach Cal but he is over paid just like the rest of the college coaches are. Hell the whole college system is broken. We pay 40,000 a year to sit in front of student aids doing the teaching and most colleges are running our kids teaching the socialism is good and we should be more like Europe. The whole system need Roto Rooter

Horrible take.

Free market economies depend on a fair and balanced playing field. It all breaks down when corruption runs amok. Which is what we are seeing throughout most industries and governments.
