If Brohm were not a native son would the fan base of L be going so kooky about his hiring ?

I do think he is a definite upgrade from Satt ( not saying much )
And the ACC is not strong so he will probably do well there
I worry some about him recruitng in the city of L against us
The L fanbase will certainly be energized
I'd say the rivalry will be heating up a few degrees
Native sons coming home does not always work out ( See Kenny Payne )

No of course not

Would they be jumping for joy if they hired PJ Fleck?

how many recruits today even know he played at ul unless they are told
at one time the Brohm name meant something around Louisville
today not-so-much

Better yet how many other programs would be jumping for joy if he was hired? I think he is a solid football coach and probably a decent guy but they think the hired the second coming of Bobby Petrino 1.0. He will recruit the city better and I think it’s debatable if the UL job is easier. The west division Purdue played in was hot garbage.

KP was/is an unproven product

They would probably be at the same level of excitement as UC is getting Satts.....

I'm glad UL finally got their prodigal son (and the rest of his family).
I grew tired of hearing them whine about it every football season like he's Vince Lombardi.

He’s 36-34 in 6 seasons
He beat all the bad teams to get to the Conference title game
IU- Nebraska - Northwestern
He also beat the UK types
Minnesota- Maryland - Illinois
Got curb stomped at Iowa
Lost to Penn St Syracuse Wisconsin Michigan

Good Coach but not worthy of Grand Marshall at Derby parade

The Brohms are all quality and knowledgeable football coaches.

He looks like he has recruited the portal very well. He has his QB, literally, who know his offense and will be instrumental in the spring and summer. He has really strengthened their defense with new personnel. He should have the skill players to do what he wants on offense, including some talented young RBs who were really shining by season’s end. The schedule next year is soft, even by ACC standards. Notre Dame in the ACC is the exception and ND was not great this year. The stage is set for early confirmation of the hire, kind of like how it was for Bobby P. But, Jeff has demonstrated what Bobby did not, that he can build in years 4 and 5.

The Bear Brohm hiring doesn’t bother me at all.

The more concerning matter is their massive bag dropping through ADIDAS that has them suddenly bringing in some South Florida and California kids that they otherwise would have no shot with.

A 2021 article...a bit out of date given this past year's result...
So if we were to discuss basketball TODAY, only the most recent game between UK/UofL is relevant. Your rules, I am the guest and will adhere to them.

Agree. The fact Brohm and his family have deep roots in Louisville makes an impact for sure. Hell, had Bob Stoops been named Iowa's coach many years ago instead of Kirk Ferentz, it would have been insane since Bob was an Iowa alum.

I've said before, I do think Brohm will do well at Louisville.

No, just pointing out the article's date...i have no problem looking at the whole body of work, be it basketball or football...not trying to argue...to the contrary, trying to be fair and accurate...Peace

He's a good coach...uofl will never be in a title hunt tho. Not saying we ever would be, but they actually believe they're a respected power
