I want John Calipari arrested immediately

Look, Cal still has a lot to prove especially after last week's debacle. But we won today and this thread aged like bad meat instead of good cheese.
That’s why people should wait till the game is over lol. It’s hilarious when this happens. We are gonna be good if Bradshaw looks this good early. Cal just has to let us play to our strengths again a little more. We don’t need Mitchell and Bradshaw so much together IMO.

I not a big fan of Calipari either, but he's actually making an effort this year. Well, he has to because his 9 million dollar arse is in the hot pot of boiling oil.

I didn't get to watch the game because my electricity went out right as the game started, only for it to turn back on when it was over. Maybe helped save me from having a conniption fit.

Strange. More than a few posts were deleted from this thread for some reason.

Really, all of the bitching I'm seeing, is more so do with how we are running offense and executing again. The first 7 games this year we didn't shoot long 2's, we didn't post bigs, and we were shooting more 3's. All great for the offense. Turnovers were down, and we were getting tons of assists.

Last game, 19% of our shots were long 2's. Last year, long 2's were 23% of our offense. We are slowly morphing back into the very same offense we ran last year. We have also only attempted around 20 3's per game over the last 2, and that's gonna put us near the bottom of college basketball in attempts per game.

When you're shooting over 40% from 3 as a team, you need to be taking 30 per game, minimum. Now if a team like Miami wants to run us off the line, and we simply can't take as many 3's, that's fine, because we scored at the rim all night off line drives to the basket, and backdoor cuts.

I agree 100%. We need to be taking 3’s like we have been early. Getting out and running.

And another thing. Every time Cal wanted us to post, it was a turnover or a missed shot. We might have scored 1 time, I'd have to go back and re-watch. Our offense bogs down so bad when we do that. Literally have 4 guys just standing around when we do it. Offense killer.

Exactly right. I've had my problems with Cal and have voiced them. But, this team is in transition with getting injured guys back and some guys (Edwards) still trying to get it going. Let's give this ship some time to float and see how it goes. It's still way early.

So, this thread is a great example of why it's almost always unwise to post knee jerk reactions mid-game when you're angry. They rarely ever turn out well. Anyway, if I were to post things I said mid-game, it would often look very similar. 🤣

Yep, me too. That's why I hold off and try not even looking at the board during the game. Always have these folks who post out of anger at the wrong time.

I will say, lots of posters blame Cal for every single shot taken in the game. You think Cal is hand-picking every shot that Rob takes? You think Cal chooses every shot that each player takes? Obviously the players have a fair amount of freedom, which is why Rob (and others) will take some "what are you doing?!" type shots.

But clearly Cal doesn't have the Nate Oates philosophy - only 3 shots allowed: at the rim, from 3, and FTs.

Here's something to keep in mind: When UK went to the "stall ball" style against Penn, Penn only had 2 FGs in the last 10 minutes of the game (aside from meaningless layup at buzzer). Kentucky lead went from 4 points to 17 points during the "stall ball" stretch. Kentucky ended on a 20-7 run playing "stall ball".

It's a double-edged sword - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Clearly worked against Penn. Rob (and others) could've chucked up a bunch of quick missed 3s or TOs in transition and given Penn extra possessions, but instead grinded out a much needed win and built some experience executing down the stretch.
