I think Cats will have a great chance at 18-1 headed to UT on 1/28/25

Dude if we can lose to Clemson there are more in the future. Stop with the nonsense. The comedy wore off a long time ago. I’m happy as hell how we have started the season but I’m also a realist and know this team will lose some games. We play 7 of the top 10 in net. I don’t think we will lose at home but osu could knock us off. Stop this stuff it creates irrational expectations for this season

13-5 may win the SEC this year, so I think starting out 6-0 in SEC would be tough.

Colgate 95% (I would have said 99% but we might play it without both PGs)
UL 85%
Ohio St 85%
Brown 99%
Florida 75%
at UGA 60%
at MSU 55%
TAMU 80%
Bama 65%
at Vandy 60%

So, while we may be favored in each of these, the expected value calculation of wins/losses is 7.59 - 2.41, adding the current 8-1, then rounding that would put us at 16-3. And I would be happy with 16-3 at that point, thrilled with 17-2, ok with 15-4.

Ummm Clemson was on the rd, they are currently ranked #19 in KP and it took a prayer shot and Butler getting hurt to beat us by 4.
In our 1st rd game. Stop being negative or Im telling Coach Pope on you!
I stand by my remarks:

18-1

OP is trippin’. SEC is a beast this season. We’re going to take losses, and probably more than zero of those will be at home. 10-8 in conference could get us a top three seed in the NCAAT. If we still have one loss going in to Tennessee we’re probably the best team since 2015 UK.

Their defense has to be a bit exaggerated if they've build a schedule of it going against offensive rated opponents in the 200's. I get it's a blend from old and new data, but still. I'm not saying it's not good though, just putting things in perspective because media always overblows things.

If we go 12-6 in the SEC, we are either leading or at the very top of the SEC and probably a shoe-in for a top line or two in the NCAA. That being said, I am not going to be shocked at 11-7 or 10-8. The road is going to be brutal.

The key to winning the sec this year . Protect your home court and steal a few on the road . We already have the best two wins so far on the road in all of collegiate basketball. So 1 st ,2 nd and maybe 3rd in the sec should get us a 1 to no worst than a 3 seed .
LONG LIVE THE POPE

SEC is going to be hard.
Conference play SEC teams will just beat up on each other.

It’s possible what OP says but I would definitely not take that to the bank at all as I feel like we drop a couple personally.

Technically, no road wins; but I do count Saturday as one.

The Ohio State and Louisville games will be tough before we even get to the SEC schedule. Then that first Florida game will be difficult.

The last four years taught me to be patient and just enjoy one game at a time. UK will be fortunate to go 12-6 in conference this year and 11-7 wouldn't surprise me.

Yeah, I hope that’s the case but I ain’t gonna lay fat stacks of cash on it.
If we can win 50% of our SEC road games, we will have a good season. Road games in the SEC are going to be brutal. Brutal, not just for us but for every team in the SEC. There will not be a single road game that will be easy. We are very lucky we play Auburn one time and it is here in Rupp. When you look at our road games, MS St, Vandy, TN, Ole MS, TX, Bama, OK, and MO. MO may be the only game that may not be scary, but remember everyone seems to lose one that you shouldn't. Exciting tough axx year. Then we have SEC tourney on neutral court. I could easily see two SEC teams in final 4.

With Kerr out and Butler already on a rolled ankle we are 1 game away from being a 6 loss team. Say he rolls it again then Jackson is our point guard for a month. That means when we go on the road we are in foul trouble b4 the first tv timeout.

In all likelihood, that Vandy Game at Miserable gymnasium .... Umm .... that one historically is one you can go ahead and count on as a loss. I Can't shake that feeling. That we have to win @ Georgia and @ Miss. State in that process, and also play Florda and bama, UofL, and THe osu, not to mention Texas A&M .... I would love to be that optimistic, but in all reality, I'd settle for dropping only 2 or 3 or those games.

I hope you are right, HH. I like the optimism ! We just REALLY need to protect the home court this year. It's imperative. The road will be as hard as it ever has been. Guaranteed, this year.

Go Big Blue !

Uh, no. I would go ahead and preemptively talk yourself out of a meltdown when this doesn't happen. No SEC team is going to dominate this conference this year. The best hope we have is to win our home games and try to win half of the road games. That will likely win the league this year. 13-5 or 12-6 is probably what the top of the league standings will look like.

On KSR yesterday, Matt said he was talking to someone who follows the sport nationally (I can't remember the name), and that guy said the SEC this year is the best conference in the history of college basketball. I remember how great the Big East was back in the day but I don't think it was as good as the SEC this season.
