How Far Will/Should Harry Giles Drop In Rankings

Why should he? An ACL injury is NOT what it was. It happened a full year before the college season starts. He should be fine to go by late summer. Just like Alex recovered from his within 8-10 months. If he's truly the #1 player, he shouldn't drop because you have to assume he will be back to where he was by November.

Giles isn't that much better than Tatum, Fox, Monk, Smith Jr , Bam and Jackson to keep him at #1 after a season ending ACL injury. If an ACL injury is enough to make Noel drop from #1 in the draft due to uncertainty of how he'd recover.... then Giles should drop to at least #4 or #5.

I hate to see this even being a topic.. hope kid has a great recovery and career. Rankings arent important.in big scheme...maybe the kid atays at djke 4 years and hets great education so he has a great future after hoops.

I don't mean any disrespect to Giles or even Duke for that matter, but I was always of the belief that recruit rankings were based on "What have you done for me lately". I think a healthy Giles is #1, but an ACL tear is a pretty significant injury. There's a real possibility that he doesn't come back 100% (maybe mentally and physically), plus other players will have shown how they've improved. It's not a slight. It's just the reality of the situation.

That said, I sincerely hope he makes a full recovery! Seems like a bright kid and he's a fantastic player.

#1, #3, #7, #18

UK 2011 class that won the 2012 title

Darryl

Ok. You are making the obvious point. I agree with you, as does everyone else in the world.

Back to that 2004 class...we actually had 3 guys ranked higher than anyone on Florida.

In retrospect, that Florida class was one of the best ever. Just like in retrospect, Karl Towns was better than Okafor and Booker was better than Oubre. And Russell ended up better than a bunch of people.

Like I said, rankings matter but they aren't everything. Sometimes it's about how the pieces fit. Sometimes there are intangibles not readily noticed by scouts. Some guys stop working while others are late bloomers.

Rooting for someone to drop in the rankings is not the same as rooting for him to be injured LOL! I hate posters who play the high moral ground!

In the New World of "one-and-done", Florida 2004 would never have won a title, would they?

Harry will miss the McDonald's All-American game, unless they come up with some type of exception because he's a K kid now.

Orton missed because of injury(wasn't even a potential nominee due to injury). Sucks for Giles, but I still feel he comes back and performs at a lottery level at Duke. Might not be the overall #1 pick he was hyped to be a few years ago, but he'll be taken in the top 10, maybe even the top 5.

I think they would have. Remember, those guys came back for seconds their junior year. The expectation, even then, was that they would leave.

He would probably be the first to not drop after an injury. Will probably be honored at half time of Burger game.
