ESPN is really promoting Duke's class by their landing the #1 and #2 players. Giles may end up #5 or lower IMO

Darryl

Giles will be the next coming of LeBron except for the injuries.

Duke will stay atop ESPNs ranking if neither #1or #2 ever play.

Is ESPN crediting Duke's recruiting for 'almost' bringing in Kobe Bryant?

This is shitty to hope he drops all for recruiting class rankings.
How far would we want him to drop if committed to us?

Who is hoping? Realistically, his injury should be taken into account. Why did Nerlens fall to 6th in a weak draft?

Cmon man. That is the entire point of this post.
Of course you guys are hoping. What else are you saying?

I'm not hoping. Cmon man.

Edit: what I'm saying is that ESPN will probably leave him number 1 because it helps their narrative.

Ok. So then I want to know how far you think he should drop if he committed to uk?

Lots of players have dropped due to an injury and missed time yes.

I'm sure there's cases for both depending on time out, but Giles has 2 busted knees. He should drop.

I would have no problem with him dropping as far as 6th, especially if others continue to develop and improve while he rehabs.

Cool story bros.
You guys are a mission. You should start your own recruiting service and make sure Giles is no better than a 4 star.

Probably stay top 10 because of the hype, which may be deserved. However, I am curious how 2 major knees injuries is going to affect his psyche? Both knees have been surgically repaired and he hasn't even made it to college yet.

Mind if I flip it, bro?

Giles just found out he's out for an eternity with not the first, but the second major leg injury.

Should he drop at all in your world, or should we all hold his jock and sing "we're all one" together?

Why? Its not like rooting for him to get diabetes or something. He could drop to unranked 2 star and it would have zero affect on him or Duke.

Just another Jagoff that tries to make himself feel better by making others look bad.

Almost as if he's insinuating we are glad he's hurt. He knows what he's doing, and there's a few of these types in almost every single thread.

On a serious note, Giles should drop to probably 5-10. If he wasn't as great as he is, it should be more. Rankings should not be dependent on PC or a present bias. It should be a direct reflection of the actual positions; all information considered.

Nothing more, nothing less.

It really doesn't matter where he drops. If you look at past rankings of where they were and where they are now, rankings really only tell you the top 25 supposably who are the best.

Nobody knows who will be the next superstar.

I just wish he has a quick and complete recovery. And I hope we get a chance of kicking their arse while he's at Duke.

I think he will drop in the rankings and he should. How would you feel as a NBA GM drafting him? High potential and high risk. Not the best combo for the #1 pick.

Oh good gosh, eff off you jack off. You obviously don't get sarcasm. Geez

don't know if he'll drop or not---don't care---but with the injury i'm glad he didn't commit to uk. if that acl was his first i probably wouldn't feel that way, but i just can't see him returning to 100% form after suffering two of them in just over two years. i do hope he fully recovers. now that he's no longer a factor cal can go all out at his other options.

I'm hoping though. Dude has 2 acl tears in a year. It's fair and how it works.

I would not be surprised if Giles ended up taking the ky.rie Irving route and play a few games and then just sit, I can't imagine him risking his nba future on a year of college ball...especially when he has messed both knees up, espn will keep him one just because of the duke factor..

Recruiting ratings are good for bragging rights but not very accurate in predicting who will be the best players. ESPN had Wall ranked somewhere around 5th and KAT 9th and they both wound up being the #1 picks in the draft, I believe they had Avery Bradley as the #1 player in Wall's class.

Wait, they had Towns ninth?! I knew they had Wall lower. Geez

Rivals had Austin Rivers as the #1 player in Anthony Davis and MKG's class [laughing][laughing][laughing]

He probably should drop. What is wrong with saying that?

Poythress dropped out of the mock drafts after he went down, does that make the guys who do those mock drafts evil?

Injuries happen and it stinks, but saying a player should drop in the rankings because of an injury is not akin to wishing they would get hurt or anything like that.

On a side note, very smart move by Giles to go ahead and commit now and lock up that scholarship.

Yeah PC'ness and emotions should have nothing to do with the rankings. They should be based on facts. And the fact is, the kid has two busted knees. It's not fair or unfair. It just is.

How would you guys feel if our class were the following:

31, 36, 75, 105?

Anyone want to answer the riddle of whose class that was?

Did Dennis Smith drop when he got injured?
A little, but not much. He went from like 4 to 8 on Scout and 4 to 6 on 247. Rivals still has him at 4. Not sure what his ESPN is. If Giles drops, it'll probably be the same way. I feel like he, Tatum, and Jackson are the three super elites in this class. Smith, Fox, Monk are just below. Smith dropped in his tier, if Giles drops it may just be to 2 or 3 below Jackson & Tatum.

I mean as an NBA gm, when you have 3 guys who are all riiiiiight there with each other in talent but one has 2 major injuries, that could be the deciding factor in which of the 3 you take.
