Just another day at the office for Higgins.
Yeah, officials don't care who wins and don't have an impact on games right? This guy is on a power trip. Another pathetic little man.
Totally inappropriate...one of the best officials always said "never seek or avoid." Don't look for trouble but don't run from it either.
It just shows that there is no accountability for NCAA officials. People like Higgins are being allowed to ruin college basketball for us all.
And now it’s seeping into football. Between the UNC screw job last year and the bowl game screw job, I almost want to stop watching.
I guess I’ll look at it like wrestling. Sometimes the good guy has to overcome his opponent and cheater refs.

After North Carolina skated on their NCAA Charges I am now in Complete belief that all the games are rigged to a certain degree. Basketball and Football. Fouls and penalties can be called at anytime to help a team out. The holding call that took us out of FG range against Florida is an example. Did you see that call anywhere else at that time of the game in any game?? No. Northwestern loses it's QB....,,, Snell gets kicked out. You think this is random???? THINK AGAIN!!!
Hate to sound conspiracy theorist, but it sure is starting to look that way. At the very least, it shows if a ref has a grudge with you then you might as well not even show up to play. They’ll make sure they come out on top.
Yeah. The NCAA has become so big and worth so much money... when money is involved you can be sure the product is effected by it.
Add on to that the good ol’ boys club (like Duke and UNC has) and you know things are rigged to an extent.

Walking back towards the Texas bench trying to grab his whistle like he was going to call another technical on Smart is one of the biggest bitch moves I've EVER seen by a ref. It's one thing to control the level of play and promote sportsmanship, but HIGGINS was the one who acted out. Who gives HIM a technical foul? Where were the other referees? If the Big 12/NCAA doesn't say ish about this today, then their credibility is right there with Higgins' in my book. Just another bully with authority.
Texas played well enough to beat Kansas last night, but Higgins prevented that from happening. The entire flow of the game seemed to just stop after all that happened.
What a shame. It was a good game too.

Too many questionable calls demonstrating that some of these refs are on the take. If a NBA ref can admit fixing games then why wouldn't it translate to the college game? Higgins has destroyed Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament and should never be allowed to officiate another gamble. He reminds me of the local ref calling a church league game in a small town.
One would think Higgins would have toned it down after last year’s debacle, but in his first high-profile game, this goon turns it up a notch. Almost like a big EFF-YOU from the NCAA to fans, coaches and teams to reiterate who really has the power. Sad state of affairs.

Following him into the huddle is no different than a player taunting which is a technical foul. For example even though it was weak but SKJ yesterday was considered taunting. The major difference will be nothing happens to higgins.
That douche move just earned Higgins the right to call the Final Four. What we view as incompetence, the NCAA sees as the ability to follow orders.

Agreed. Never seen a ref decide to inject himself in a game to that level. Most abuse of power I’ve ever seen from a ref. I wouldn’t let him ref a game of connect four.

It's pathetic that an official's name is even mentioned during a game. Fans don't pay to see them blow their whistles. They should be anonymous and impartial. It's mind blowing that any major sport allows officials to get famous by making ridiculous calls.
I now think John Higgins is simply a huge Kansas homer. KU is right behind UK in alltime wins. Higgins seems determined to help reverse that. Big 12 fans have complained about him for years. Maybe there is a good reason why KU keeps winning those conference championships and then chokes in the NCAA tournament when they don't have their favorite refs calling the games.

He would have to stand in line. When will conferences realize this jerk has an agenda, and stop scheduling him. If no conferences use him, the NCAA won't use him during the tournament. Over and over, he shows, on national tv, how incompetent he is.

Apparently, there's no consequence to his actions and refs seems to be accountable to no one. The NCAA probably likes how he cheats UK at every instance.
The fact that Higgins was named referee of the year tells me all I need to know about the quality of officiating in college basketball.
