Here are the 2 that voted for Virginia.....here comes the noise...

I really don't care how the polls shape up, but I don't understand his thoughts. The poll is supposed to be an attempt to rank the best teams in the country. It isn't a poll to see which team had the best week. That's a crazy interpretation. If the poll is supposed to just gauge which team is playing the best right now, then any time a team takes a loss, it probably shouldn't even be in the top 25 for that week!

He says quite clearly that he thinks UK is the best team but isn't playing the best basketball right now. I agree with both points. But I'd add that UK has played the best basketball over the entire season to date - despite these two shaky games in a row. If the writer agrees with my last statement, then UK should have gotten his vote. The poll is supposed to assess which team is the best team in the country and the writer should base that answer on all the data from the season. If voters focus on too narrow a time window, then the variability of the season will destroy the ability of the poll to be a reliable assessment.

Then again, some people are just looking for a reason to go against the crowd so they can write a story about how they are smarter than everyone else and get lots of hits on their webpage!

Polls are subjective... Being the unanimous #1 is not an easy task because of this factor. Some people want to see the body of work.. Some people want you to pass the eyeball test. Some people want to see what you did lately... We stubbed our toe a little bit on the eyeball test so what if we lost 2 measly votes for #1? Don't know how many weeks in a row that is, but it's pretty impressive with the massive target on our backs.

My thinking as well. How does this bozo get a vote? A complete asinine fool.

OK, call me biased, but based on Feinstein's faulty logic (for how to interpret and then vote for the supposed number one team), Pikeville, because they played better basketball against their opponent, should/could be number one! Being from Duke, I think we know where his spin is coming from. Would he have done that to Duke if they had been number one and done the same as Kentucky? Hell no. They of course folded like a bad hand, panicked at a crucial time in their game, and got whacked good by a NC State team that will also have a hard time getting to the NCAA tournament. Feinstein was put on this earth to write and entertain--he's no basketball expert, and is obviously biased to both the ACC and to Duke. Hmmm, I do wonder about his vote this week for Duke. Still two, behind Virginia? Hell, vote us 20th. Who cares? He does make a pood point: polls...and his opinion of teams in the polls--are all worthless anyway. Let's see where we are and where Virginia ends up in April. Believe this too: he and Doug Gottlieb and many others are no fans of Kentucky (so, what else is new?). They're not going to somehow grow a different brain and come out of their biased stupor now.

I wonder how he felt about Virginia struggling with mighty Davidson (they pulled away in the last couple of minutes) and double OT to a Miami squad that lost to Green Bay and EKY by 29 points this season?

It's great logic if that's how you determine the top 25 but I've never heard of someone saying, "They aren't playing like a number 1 team right now, they should drop."

Isn't the real point here that his opinions had no impact on the 60-vote (near unanimous) majority which voted UK??!!!
